All highway guys should be making 80K plus! It's too bad there are so many out there WILLING to do it for much less. Stop working for nothing and get the rates up!
There are MANY young men working for Trican here in Hinton who make 130K plus a year, there home almost every night, and have nothing more to offer than a class one. And most of them got that through the company! Why is that?? Why do they get that much and the family guy who is giving up his life at home and his health is out there busting his aXX for less than 80K? Why, Why, why??????
    Awaiting answer....

There is something similar happening in Europe. Polish and Bosnians are willing to do any work for half of someone's salary, simply because even that is far far more then they would earn doing ANY job in Bosnia or Poland. They are known to apply for the job and then when they come to the interview, they state "I am willing to work for half of his salary" and that 'him' gets fired and Polish is hired. :biggrin_2554: I suppose it's the same in Canada, and that should explain the results of my poll.

I entirely agree with you - people should be paid what they're worth.

130K could be right but I question the "home every night" 'cause anyone that's worked rigs KNOWS that cement doesn't cure in the daylight :biggrin_25522::biggrin_25523:

It's been two months and few days since my employer applied for LMO. This might be of some use to people that are the process like me just so you know about the approximate processing time. I will post when I get that #### LMO, and I hope that will be soon... I knew these things are complicated and take time but this is just too much...

oil patch.. you ask why... my thinking is as a kid you see all these big fancy rigs going down the hiway and say thats what i want to do. they talk to the recruiters and they promise the world. most do not understand how cents per mile work, 11 hrs a day x 60mph x $.40 cpm = $264.00 day plus this and plus that. not bad really. recruiters dont tell you, you won't see that and to take 10% off your miles because the company wont pay you for them. and so on and so on. how long is it going to take before your so broke that you can't leave. hell you know the drill, all we can do is keep spreading the word about oilfield work.. some don't want to work that hard so they stay on the hiway.

My job isnt even that hard and im making great money. Most work i do is strap down my load, chain up or sometimes tarp a load. Most of the time when i arrive on site theres people to help me untarp. Or i can sit there for hours waiting to unload and get paid for all my waiting time.

true it might not be that hard but compared to running down the hiway it is. with us we don't have the option of going to bed instead of chaining up. they stop when they want and we go as soon as the rigs call, some times day or night.
