Not sure I recently pulled/payed for mine and it only went back to 1993
-
Most have asked me for 10 years, but you never know what will show up
-
Thanks! I am filling out an app and don't want to open up a can of worms if I can avoid it!!! Your thoughts???
-
Well you could go to the DMV and get a copy of yours, its $18.00 in illinois?? I would think that long ago would not be an issuefor "most" companys, but getting caught hidding it would be. It's a tough call, I personally would be up front with it. Main thing is answer exactly what they ask, no more, no less.

A lot of companies are using specialists to do background checks. One is e-verification in SD, thats all they do and if its out there I bet they will find it. Most company apps ask for the last 10yrs, but what pops up on a search, who knows?
-
thanks Rad & dryv...I agree with you both! Gonna give what they ask for and not try to hide anything...35years...a long time ago!!!!
Safe driving...Jim -
If the app asks if you ever had a dui then you answer yes. If it asks if you have had a dui in the last 10 years then you say no. Be as honest as you possibly can or it WILL come back to bite you in the ###!!! They will find out everything and anything they want to know so be sure to be truthful. You could be driving down the road after three months of employment and be called into a terminal because they just found out you lied on your app. Now you are buying a bus ticket! So be honest! Let them decide if 35 years is long enough!

We are a carrier and I pull both the state dmv and have a background check done with a private company. I agree that you should only answer what is asked for, but definately do not lie about your DUI. If I were looking at your docs to lease you on with us, I would certainly note the DUI, but if you have a good record since then, it would be a non-issue -- UNLESS our insurance provider had an issue with it. If you want, I can call my insurance company (Great West) and ask them what there position would be. I really think, unless the insurance company has a problem with it, this is a non-issue for the carrier. Good luck!

Hey chomp & bbb...thanks so much for your input! That is exactly what I have decided to do....
bbb...thanks for your offer!!! If you don't mind, I would definately be interested to know what your carrier's position is on this issue!! Much appreciated!
