I don't have any kids, but been thinking real hard about bringing my niece and nephew out for a week or two this summer. I think it would be a great experience for any kid. But one at a time for sure.

The more I think about bringing my son out with me for a little bit in the summer time only makes the desire to start trucking more potent! Thanks for all the good info in this thread!

Talk about the potential for road rage..."You kids don't MAKE me come back there!"

We are O/O and my husband has taken each of our children out for 1 week or less at a time (only one child at a time) our son is married and has a family of his own and of course a full time job, well this summer during a portion of his vacation he and his oldest son went out with my husband on a turn to Amarillo. It was a 3 day deal. My grandson loved it cause he "helped" granddad roll up straps and loved feeling like he was working hard just like his dad and granddad. It was good father/son/grandson time but had it been longer it would have been too much for any of them.

I am looking forward to my son on the truck as well but I was surprised that my teenaged daughter wants to go out after Christmas. (we home school) I am not surprised that she wants to go out with me as we are close but she wants to go for a month. Of course she is the type that would love the solitude and the time to read and chill. Of course being near dad wouldn't be bad nor would being far from the brother.

My daughter is only 7 right now, but she's been known to surprise me. Never know...she just may surprise me again and take to it more than my son. :biggrin_25525:

I consider sending my 12-on-Friday-year-old out w/ JCW just so that I don't gotta hear the kids fighting 24/7. Only time they don't fuss, seems like is if they are apart. And good for you for homeschooling. We do, too.
