Haven't been up there to get a job but have been up there to deliver pipe & equipment recently.

Good luck on finding a place to park your truck or stay & be prepared to pay higher prices for just about everything.

Take your patience with you as you will see some traffic jams that will make NYC a pleasurable drive.

The infrastructure in the area was never designed for the type of use it is seeing.

You should keep in mind that we work in all weather and there are no deliniation markers to tell you where the edge of the road is when it's blowing snow. We work until we can't see or get stuck. Get pulled out and keep working until it happens again!

Ok so I drove around Williston today.... First stop the Nd job services... It was packed full of people... The parking lot had cars from all over the US....there were alot of young kids and older guys in there some who can't read or write...

I stopped at a few companies hiring drivers... The special about Williston on MSNBC made people flock up there like crazy... So employers are more interested in the face to face applicants more then the people who call and say if u hire me first then I will relocate calls...

Alot of people apply get there drug test done and never even show up for the first day of work.. Or they work till they find something better...then bail .. High turnover rate.

Bring copies of your driving abstract with u... It shows ur ready to drive and not waste time...

I applied at 3 places today and got two when can u drug test and one we will def call u tomorrow...all within an hour.

but u better hope u can find a place to stay... I heard guys saying they would share a man camp room and split the 90 bucks a day. So 45 a person...isn't bad if you want to be in a jail cell. With a flat screen..and wireless

The job service people are begging people to find housing before they show up... Living in the parking lot in ur car is fine... But u won't hawa shower Nd have to share the Walmart bathroom with everyone else...

i hope they save some jobs for me, but I have to imagine most will leave when the wind starts to blow and temp drops. Thats why im waiting until spring when it warms up.

They charge $90/day for those?? That's $2700 per month. Is that the going rate for man camps? I was under the impression employers provided those with little to no charge.

I'm coming up in January, when the snow, ice and wind are at it's very worst - ha ha ha - I laugh in the face of death - I just don't care, I will love feeling that wind on my face (or not feeling my face), after living in this tropical climate every day, where it's so hot I sweat while I'm still in the shower! :violent3: At least in ND you can dress for the cold, where I live now, you can only take off so many clothes, then people start to stare....
