I have. Every day. '95 is D12A ore D12B. Generally 380 ore 420 hp

Can you elaborate,? Is it dependable, any electrical issues, this one is 435 hp
Thanks -
ok, ECM is made by Motorolla, fuel cooled. So do not add manual fuel pump under cab, it is easy to damage ECM with pressure, and do not use compressed air to push fuel in engine!
Early ECMs do not support j1939, 1708/1587 ONLY! And they can be diagnosed with VCADs pro only! no other software, but '93-98 ECMs may blink fault codes with CEL.
Engine is mechanically the same like D12C and D12D. SOHC design, with front timing gears.
There were Lucas/Delphi and Bosch injectors used. They are not exchangable, becouse ECM got no flash memory, so to reprogram it is not easy, all calibration is on one EPROM and UV Eraseble EPROM. Volvo used reprogramming unit, but it is not easy to find and it is easy stuff, so I prefere to take ECM apart, dump memory with programmer and change calibration.
Engine versions are 380, 420/435 and 460/465. 380 engine got aluminium pistons, over 420 HP got articulated pistons. If you do ECM upgrade from 380 hp - change pistons!
Engine is more complicated comparing with 3406 and N14 but more fuel efficient.yotaman Thanks this. -

Got the d12a in my 96 it just dies out of the blue restart and away we ago sometimes as much as 100 times a day and sometimes not for weeks. Dash and certain scanners pick up code for injectors starting at 5 almost every time. My local Volvo deal says they can't get there computer to read at all.
I would love to get this fixed as I love driving the truck and gets better mogs than my KW with a cat.
I personally and thinking the injection harness as I seen that they seem to go bad easy.
Any ideas? -
I'm looking at buying a 1995 autocar with the d12, it has issues and I can't find anyone with a programmer within 1000 miles so I'm looking to buy my own for my mechanic. All the VCADS pro I see is the 2.4 version and say only for 98 model forward so I'm guessing it's not going to work on this old 95. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
