About to be having my first discussion with a sprvrs in dispatch. I was given a load coming across from Mexico, it didn't cross until last night. It delivers SUNDAY night 1200 miles away. Right now it is sitting at our drop yard, so I had planned on leaving tonight. Now they are complaining because if I am gonna be sitting for excessive time with a load, I would rather sit that additional time at home.

I just got done telling a dispatcher I get paid by the mile, not by the hour when I am on the truck. If they want me to be sitting in it away from home I had better be moving.
mustang970 Thanks this. -
1200 mile load is a 45 hour dispatch per Conway(I have the old handy chart all dispatchers use) if you are to deliver sunday,,night the dispatch is right on tract, whats the problem? your only going to be sitting a few hours on sunday

You may not have an issue sitting needlessly, right after leaving the house. However, when a load is preloaded sitting on a yard we use there is no sense in sitting for 34 hours right after leaving the house.

Are you from Alaska??? If so where at, I'm from Anchorage -
They only plan a truck on 300-350 a day,,hmmmm 4 days,1200 miles
Welcome to Trucking ,wait till December if you think this is bad -
I'm not new to trucking, I am new to planning done thinking it takes 4 days for 1200 miles. Which is real funny considering my last week out I ran right at 600 a day. When I came in for hometime I was scrounging for hours. That being said, I know out on the road some loads just are given too much time, those don't bother me as much as being expected to sit on a load 1200 miles from home 2 days after coming off hometime.
I've had the truck ready to go since Tuesday night, and will be rolling right after supper, 2 days hard push to get there early Saturday morning and get a restart before delivering. -
1200 miles in a 62 mph so what 20hours +/- of drive time, Plus 2 pre-trips, Plus most likely a fuel stop right?
So thats 20.75 hours, IF you did what they wanted which also happens to be what i would have done, and ran there and did a 34 you could erase 20.75 hours and have a fresh 70 come the time your MT.
thats how i run, and sounds like how conway would like you to use your hours as well
American Truckerxlsdraw Thanks this.
