To all:
As a veteran driver of ten years we know this industry is not all its cracked up to be. However if you drive and do what the job entails you can make money anywhere. Now as far as students or new drivers all they do is complain. Will you let a decision on your future rest on a text over a computer screen or just pay the dues like we all have done before you and make a living driving a truck? Guys stop complaining about everything, maybe YOU did something wrong and are upset that you aint working for these guys. Every where you look all you read is negative comments and lawsuits over big companies, just relax and follow what you want to do. Driving now is alot easier now that what it was 10 years ago or even 20. Stop complaining get out of the truck stops and move the freight they are paying you to do. New drivers interested give em a call we all started somewhere.

you are just mad maybe you didnt know how to run a business and in fact you want proof from someone else that they are making it so you can maybe see if stevens will take you back. drivers like you is why this industry is the way it is, who cares about the past just focus on the future.
-
yea, miketrish has a good point.
Don't be a terminal rat.
I see the same drivers always in the terminals, sitting there crying about how their truck is always broken down, and they never get any miles.
They almost act like the WANT to be in the terminal. I only go into a terminal if i absolutley have to. and i leave as soon as i can.
I want to make money, not sit there for 2 days and watch tv with 10 other drivers. this is not high school.
But some guys would rather take $75 a day in downtime pay. but you can make $150 a day driving. When ever i sit for more than a day, i start getting into trouble. i will start walking around seeing what kind of devious things i can get into.
So i like to keep moving. -
ok i am curious, why would they want to see your tax returns for the last 3 years?
-
What's the reasoning behind having to make 10K for the previous 3 years? Something not quite right in that logic. When I went to orientation the recruiter did not even look at my returns. Suppose you only made 9K the previous years. What if you worked at McDonalds and only made 6k per year. Better yet, what if you had been drawing unemployment benefits and your family was on public assistance?
-
3 years of tax returns is to see if you qualify for the $6,000 loan you are about to sign. It also verifies employment and shows your work ethic. Dont want to show them that info then no school and no job.
-
I agree with that logic but I don't think the 10K dollar amount is accurate. At no point was a dollar amount ever brought up in my recruitment process. A dollar amount would be moot at that point seeing as your ability to repay the loan is based on future earnings with Stevens.
-
so i read the original post, Stevens still charge you for hotel and bus fair and food? training i understand i don't have any issue paying either through one year contract or whatever, but hell, i would just assume drive my car from Washington to Dallas and stay with a friend rather then ride a bus from seattle to dallas, thats about 4 days or so on a bus...not fun lol or i would just fly, since i got family that works for the airlines...

Well said! Thanks!

The number was brought up to me but this was to verify self employment. It wasn't told to me right away either but late into the recruiting process.
