Are we talking about training as in after graduating CDL school and hop into the truck to learn how to truck, or are we talking going to get a permit and bypassing CDL school altogether (not likely)? Covenant used to train husband wife teams in the same truck with a trainer. For the experienced drivers, you should be checking with the companies that run teams, as far as their requirements, which will require calling safety for said companies. I doubt anyone will get to train their wives without CDL school though. We all know you learn to pass the test in those three weeks, and that is about it in CDL school.

My advice is that he has probably been on his own for maybe a month. What is he going to teach you??????? He doesn't know what he's doing yet! If I were you, I'd get signed on with his company, get a female trainer, and hit the road. Once your solo ready, you can team up and make the big bucks.

This is usually a bad idea anyway.
All of the professional old school truckers I know (20+yrs of experience) had someone train their wives and then they polished what the school didn't do.

That's the best way to do this...

Really?? I mean If it's alright with greats like Werner, it's got to be ok for anyone else..:biggrin_2559: Seriously though, I think that the requirements for being considered for being a trainer is a minimum of 5 yrs, no accidents, no violations. Back in my LEO days, you were considered a rookie for the first 5 yrs.

Training a spouse in anything is like going into business with family.. DO NOT DO IT! in my opinion and experience the spouse always tends to listen better to someone else. I tried to teach mine to ride motorcycles for a while. Couldnt understand to save her life THEN when she went with others she would come back and tell me all NEW stuff she had learned....REALLY hmm were did you hear that 'new' stuff before
