so let me ask, don't kill me right away, but does going to Sage Truck Driving School for 5 weeks get you anywhere with employers?

New to trucking, but not new to hard work or cold weather.

Cowboy77, I have been researching schools and asking exp drivers about which schools are best and sage is held in the highest regard buy potential employers, united also rates up there! I am also looking north to drive but exp. seems to be the prob. getting hired, so a swamper position for a while looks like the answer till somebody will trust a new driver. There is zero housing up there, so I personally have purchased a dodge dually and a fully self contained camper so I am mobile, clean and warm. Best of luck to ya! This site is a wealth of info if you look and ask. These guys are great about helping newbies if you can take a little ribbing once in a while.

    Similar exceptions...
Although they have an exception specfically for pipe haulers. :biggrin_2552:

The Interpretation for 395.1 contains additional information regarding what is oilfield equipment, servicing, HOS, etc.

Onthego, thats kinda what I was thinking too. Everyone has to start somewhere. Hardwork and cold weather isn't anything new for me, so starting at whatever and working into a driving spot might be the way to do it. I too have been looking at taking a camper or trailer.
