Does anyone read the posts people put on here..... Most companies want to see ur face to get hired... Then the first thing they ask is if u have housing.... Walmart parking lot does not count as permanent housing....all the hotels within 130 miles are booked solid for at least 6 months....all the rv and camp sites already taken by big companies and if u find one get prepared to put 1-3 grand out of your pocket for deposits and such.
The town and cops are starting to crack down on people who don't have housing... -
So what do you think is happening? Are all the spots left by people leaving for winter being filled by people who saw the NBC special?
-
I just put an ad on craigs a few days ago to see what happens.
ad read:
In walmart parking lot in my truck. Clean cdl 3 years otr in winter driving exp, passport, hazmat, and tanker exp, no adverse history and spotless background. Need job driving truck.
the ad got flagged an hour later LOL
You need housing there, once there, go apply for stuff in person. -
Main stream media is always late to the party folks. The reason for the housing request now is because of them. You know there just dying for someone to die in the cold; so they can report on it.
Glad when everyone ran for ND I ran for Texas lol. I got 2 weeks till report day. Free hotel for 3 weeks and then im on my own. The housing there isn't like ND but they do go fast when they come on the market I'm being told.
1 Bed room in Pampa Tx 700ft^2 (math expression) or 700sqft $450 a month $350 deposit. I couldn't get that in North Dakota if I prayed for it. Now I'm paying rent in two states though lol...
Guess that what happens when you spend 8 years of your life as Al Bundy!

People up here are charging 1500 a month to rent a room with first last and non refundable deposit up front so that's 4500 bucks to rent a room in cash before u move in... The Nd job service office is filled with people who are all saying they came cause of the news reports about the jobs up here... But they all cant find housing... Unless u get lucky and your employer has housing it's a long
shot to say the least... -
I hope all these guys that have been comming up recently because of the news reports will give up and go back home when the real cold comes.
I was planning on heading up in the spring after doing 5-6 months in texas when I finish cdl school in a few weeks. -
Alot of people comming to Williston area are from out of state and they left there families behind...They figure they will be able to move them up here after they get a job but then they see that there is no place to move them to... or there living out of there car in Williston walmart and after a few nites of 0 degree weather they pack up and leave... The employers Ii talked to said for every 10 people who show up and apply and take there drug test they dont hear back from 8 of them...people apply for multiple jobs here then take the best one that makes the most money. If its a driving job be prepared to have a few dot physicals done... if u have a dot physical today the company who sends u tomorrow will make u get another physical done.
-
You can get a room in Miles City Mt if u want to drive 180 miles each way to work and back every day... But when the snow comes then ur gonna be SOL.. and all that money in fuel to drive back and forth...

Ever since I started my ND oil jobs research back in August I have been seeing rv spots available on craigslist for $600-1000 a month between 100-50 miles away. When I was in the area in August I saw a lot of lots that said spots for rent. Hopefully there will still be some since buying a trailer is part of my plan.
