My husband was in an accident September of last year (2010) He was at fault and advised them on this, he received a ticket for wrong direction/lane change in regards to this accident. He has applied at several companies and they all are telling him that they can't hire him until 3 years after the accident/ticket happened. He understands the gravity of the accident and it was a careless mistake and helped him understand more about driving all day like he does.
He currently owns his own courier business, and has for the past 10 years, so he is out on the road all day most ever day. His biggest client has provided him notice that due to the economy they are not going to be able to afford any of his services after the end of this year and he is making the hard decision to close his business, as with his few other clients he would not be making any money.
Our first choice will not hire him, and we understand, we were hoping for him to at least get on with a company, however, with the accident/ticket and being a fresh out of school CDL licensee, we are having issues.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have already lectured him time and time again about this incident, so he knows that he shouldn't have done it and is of course trying to move on.![]()

Lecturing a man never helps. I know I just get mad and have worse behavior every time my wife does it to me. She has now learned to talk nice to me if she wants me to act certain way or do something for her.
With that being said, I think your husband is screwed. Not many companies will take that risk because of their insurance companies. -
My wife starts lecturing me and one of us is moving! My first 3 wives will testify to that fact....
He's probably gonna have to wait this one out or find a small carrier that will overlook it. (good luck finding one)
It's a pretty serious offence. -
Nice pic of "home"...

^ nope just a mirage truckers dont make any money didnt you learn that already

Unfortunately just being remorseful doesn't make the accident or the ticket go away. I will imagine greatly that like has already been said, he's going to have to wait this out until it gets older on his MVR. Getting his CDL on this record may have been a mistake, because once this blackmark on his record gets old enough to make him hireable, he's now going to probably have to attend a CDL school refresher course to even make it in with a training carrier.
