.....just looking to see if there are any CB'ers in Southern Missouri. I'm in the Branson area and I sure don't hear any locals. Maybe wrong channel....who knows.
    If you're into it....give me a shout.
I'm usually on 19, 21, or 38LSB....and would enjoy some conversation on occasion.

If you can reach them you have a crowd on 2 and 21 AM in Springfield, and below you in Mountain Home an evening (and morning if they are up) crowd on 37 USB. Also 28 AM has a group but they are further southwest from you. Not like it used to be but if you patiently scan around you will discover a few. Also a group around Bull Shoals as well as around Berryville but you need a decent station and antenna in your area. A nice beam with a rotor helps but keep a good vertical for times it is needed.

    Irondog Thanks this.

If you have access to and use freeband frequencies try 26.915 MHz. (5 channels below channel 1).There is a nationwide club based in Branson that uses this frequency. They hold a Large CB Break every summer, it is an old school eyeball type break not a keydown competition..This summer will be the 30th anniversary of the break and is scheduled for June 15-17 2012.

It's pretty dead compared to how it used to be. The truckers are all on the cell phone, or listening to XM radio. The base station folks are all on the computer or watching TV. In the old days we only got 3 TV stations, now everybody has cable or satellite, or they are on the computer!

Ain't that the truth. Personally, I don't find a lot to watch on TV and the computer....well...it'll eat up a bit of time. CB is busy....in certain areas but it sure seems to be slow around here.

I think it is also because you have a lot of new drivers out there now. They get a radio and turn it on. Obviously they sound "new". And immediately somebody is on there running them down and trash talking them and giving them a hard time, doing the "CB Rambo" thing. So they turn it off and never even get interested in it. People aren't as courteous and helpful as they used to be.

P.S. I learned how to drive a truck running up U.S.65 to northern MO in a grain bucket. There used to be a lot of CB activity between the AR line and Springfield.
