I have heard it is quite busy in that area also. Been a few years since I have been down that way and some that go through there say it's hopping. Will most likely be headed either down south or west Tx shortly after the first of the year myself.
Good luck with the job search!

It's just a small blip right on I-10. It will take me about 1.5 hours to get to Victoria. The motel is a small, clean, but obviously old Days Inn and the single room was $90. This room anywhere else would go for 40-50 max.
But at least I'm here and ready to go. -
That is a bit on the high side for that room but probably really cheap compared to way up north. Only consolation is that it was there to be had.
Probably time for me to start looking into getting an RV again at those prices. -
They are having no trouble getting those prices. It's expected to go higher too.

I start crude training on Tuesday, just finished a 70 hour week on the fuel coke side. So far so good, and we are supposed to be getting new trucks in over the next couple of weeks. That's a good thing as my biggest complaint about this company is the trucks. Every single one of them has over half a million miles and half of them have over 750,000 miles. They are still functional which is a testament to the maintenance department, but this is WAY to many miles for a day cab fleet driving some ROUGH roads on a daily basis. I'll update after I start the crude training, I don't expect any surprises. Outside of the fleet mileage I have no complaints with this company at all, hell I was even able to work Thanksgiving and earn a substantial paycheck which was nice because I don't know a soul down here and had nowhere to go enjoy a Thanksgiving meal anyhow.
