So I just got a preplan to drive 3 hours away for a pick up almost 2 days away? Miles have already been sucking but this is getting a little old... (Pick up time that is Sorry.)
Has this ever happened to you?

Its because its a weekend and the time of year.

Did you say anything to your fm? Roehl dispatches based on a system of closest truck. The fact that they are deadheading you 150 miles tells me there isn't much freight in your area. Still when situations like this come up it is always a good idea to contact your fm. With that much time waiting I would do a restart so I could start Monday with a fresh 70 and I would also push for layover pay.
When I was on the company side I was a 7/4-7/3 driver. They sent me to Salt Lake City for a two stop delivery of Friday night and Saturday morning delivery. Then they sat me from Saturday noon until Monday morning, the problem was that I was due back in East St. Louis by Tuesday so the next driver could get the truck on Wednesday. Guess who got home three days late. -
I just got done with a reset.... lol And when I messaged dispatch I was basically told it is better than nothing....... ffs.

sometimes that's the way it is you gotta move to get freight ! I once deadheaded from Tulsa to Flagstaff Az. just to get moving on a load

I have a 8 am live load tomorrow morning 7 miles away and it delivers south of memphis @0300...I have this funny feeling I am going to miss thanksgiving because I will be in the south and out of hours... haven't been able to work in a reset yet...the loads have been tight...

Same feeling I'm having.

I have had two days this past week that I did almost nothing or nothing at all.
Delivered on Monday in Canada and then next load was for Tuesday pickup... 4 miles away across the border. I did a total of 18 miles that day.
Thursday I got in 178 miles and that's only because I left Gary and delivered in WI. Around noon I was told to go to nearest truck stop. At 5pm it was check in the next morning.
The load I am on now delivers on Monday. I'm 4 hours away right now after driving today for 465 miles. And I was stopping at every other truck stop..

How close are you to being able to start rolling your hours over? That's what I've been doing for almost a week. I could use a day off, but it looks like I'm set up pretty good to get home Wednesday or Thursday AM. I have seen them work pretty hard to get drivers home for the holidays including ridiculous deadhead. Just keep the pressue on your fm, by reminding him how important your family is.

I have been rolling hours over since wed..I think...its sucks because when the recap hours I have been using start rolling in they are shorter.....
My FM know I told her last month I wanted to be home 4 thanksgiving...thurs, friday and saturday...told her I would go out sat night...but the problem is I have to be back in florida the 1st weekend of december for army things...(Can't wait til I am out and collecting disability..) Then schedualed home for xmas already... I will learn next month if its a certain thing if our 2 week camp got turned into 3 weeks and in the middle of january to the 1st of Febuary...(getting tired of army games FTA)...
