Depends on the size of the tv and dvd player, but my best answer would be to get atleast a 400 watt with 800 watt peak. Thats more then enough power to do both.

OK just so you know, that one hooks directly to the batteries and the one that I was talking about would plug into your cigarette plug.

Rule of thumb is double your requirements for initial surge. The way to tell what size you need is to look at what you are hooking in to it and see what they draw in either amps or watts if it doesn't give you any thing other than amps the formula for watts is amp X Voltage will give you watts. IE 10 amps X 120 Volts equals 1200 watts now double that for surges and you get 2400 watts. remember when it comes to electrical equipment heat means loss and the more load you put on the equipment the hotter it gets so there for it takes more energy to get the same amount electricity to flow due to heat loss. Meaning more is better when it come to an inverter. Also remember to use the right size wire to hook your inverter to the power source and a cigerate lighter has burnt up more than one inverter by not having big enough wire to it for continued use at the amps they draw. My suggestion is by the biggest you can afford and have it wired to the battery so as to eliminate any chance of Current shortage to the device. I always ran 00 cable to the cab and tapped of it to what ever equipment i need to run off the battery. If your looking for a good brand Trace or Heart are by all means the very best you can get. But you pay for them. Hope this helps in your questions.

If you go with the microwave your deffinatly looking at a minimum of 2000 or better size inverter and i would suggest the trace or the heart and at least # 1 or better wire to the battery's

Has anyone hooked up your destop computer and flat panel monitor in your truck? How big of an inverter would you need to do that? I really don't feel like doing the electronics math; If anyone has done this then let us know. Thanks

My company[usa] won't allow inverters say they are a fire hazard and if they find one in your truck[during servicing they WILL search your truck and remove it and supposedly dispose of it.I don't know if this is true but I bet if you take the back off of a 12v tv it will have an integral inverter!
