Hiyas every body and any body :)

I just set up an appointment for Roadmaster's School in Tampa, Florida.

I'm currently employed in HR for a company that employs truck drivers, so I know pretty much their pay and benefits. That isn't what concerns me, or the fact how to pay for school (Got to love the GI Bill). The concerns I have are minor and if anyone would love to answer them I would be most grateful.

    1. What are some questions I should ask the recruiter once I meet him? (Other than the obvious, when do we start school?)

    2. When talking on the phone with him he mentioned a couple of "starter" companies that they setup for students. Are these starter companies any good or should I look for employment on my own?

    3. He (the recruiter) also stated that the student to instructor ratio is about 5:1. But he also pointed out that if I have a problem in a certian area (i.e. backing) that I would get more practice on that than the other 4 people. Question: Should I be concerned about the ratio, and is the recruiter blowing smoke about the extra practice?

    4. I've read tons of post about Roadmaster on these forums. In your honest opinion, does it really matter what school you attend as long as you have a school and CDL under your belt? (CDL is kinda dur but one must ask).

These are the only questions I can think of. If there are any others please feel free to help a WannaBe out. All the advice I can receive would hep me out either way. :)

Thank you for your time and have a great day/night/morning.

I would just add that the CDL schools' recruiter is not necessarily the one to be that concerned over. The trucking companies' recruiters are the ones that blow a lot of smoke. The school is going to teach you enough to get your CDL, that's about it. They generally have recruiters setup from various companies, some will come to the school and give you their sales presentation.

As KCmailhauler advised, it really doesn't matter what school you attend.
