do all ltl companies make you work the dock before you become a driver?

I got my LTL job by just walking in one day and inquiring. I work a line haul route running 520 miles a night and am never expected to work the dock. But at some point here I may switch to city p&d / dock work. Good hourly rate and I wouldn't give up much money versus what I do now. LTL is by far the best trucking job i've ever had and I don't see going back to OTR in my future.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I didn't mind working the dock. When I worked for roadway except it cold in the winter but once you acquired he right cold gear you were good to go.

I don't mind working the dock I was just worried about spending all that money on trucking school and getting experience otr then trying to get a ltl job and having to spend 2 or 3 years working on a dock and not getting any seat time
