Huge difference between a broken shock (in two pieces) and one that a driver deems is worn out,

I was a little slow in getting my total post in. It's above... However I've even looked through the "green bible" and it's no different. There is nothing in the regulations about shocks. So I wonder how he could be placed OOS if there is no regulations regarding shocks, broken, loose, leaking or otherwise?

It all fits under "suspension" in my estimation.

A shock that's torn in half due to over extension is "broken" and needs to be replaced. I suppose if a shock is "leaking" it could be deemed "broken" and require replacing. Is either a safety hazard anddoes it require a truck/trailer to be put OOS @ the side of the road? NO, not in my estimation!

Becareful, that could insight a Level 1 inspection. You might want to just use the phone on this issue.

Would that be a bad thing? I need a fresh sticker for my windshield anyway :biggrin_25523:

It'll most likely be raining. This coop doesn't have a inspection shack.

If it's on the truck, it's suppose to work. They should be concerned over premature tire wear if anything. If your tires aren't chopping and evidence of the shock leaking, you might be mislead.

Because usually the way the scenario plays out is they change the tires and the shocks with it. If the last set of tires didn't show shock wear, then you don't change the shocks.

And yes there is a regulation covering shocks.

Steering play, depending on the size steering wheel is 2"-2.75".

Maybe the company is planning on getting rid of the truck. Communication is important.

If not get them hemorrhoids fixed! :biggrin_2559:

Take you a block of wood and a hammer, place wood against shock, smack wood with hammer until shock is bent, drive until broke, complain until fixed. Do not hit the shock with the hammer, it will leave hammer marks on it. And only do one, two is suspicious.

Stopping at the scales and requesting an inspection will be noted on the form. The line reads something like this. "requested an inspection?" under reason for inspection. This has gotten a few drivers fired for asking for one to get the truck fixed.

Be very careful how you go about getting an inspection. Maybe fix a few lights so they just happen to quit working or drop the pigtail on the plate or have it hanging. Heck you're already trying for a ticket might as well make it a good one. You get the points no matter which way you go but be sure they are noted on your daily inspection reports to cover your arse!

But as said above communicate with the company or pray the tires start to showing wear pointing at the shocks.
