Here's how it is. Low miles. Regional drivers come first. Over the road drivers are left with regional left overs plus the added Benifit of very slow miles. And then on the weekends Otr drivers are left finishing up regional drivers loads. Plus you will end up working in the mid Ohio valley to the north east part of the country. You will see a lot of Chicago. Everything long get's put on the rail. Trips average 300 miles. And they take most ur 14 hours to complete them. And pretty much always have 2 and 1/2 day window on them to deliver. A high mile week here. Is 1800 miles. So ur biggest check is about $485 take home. Which sucks. Honestly! Marten transport is not that good of a job. And if ur not on the kiss up list. Ur checks are even smaller. I really wish I would have never come to work for these people. If you live in Florida they have no south east or Florida regional job opening. So you end up doing over the road to what the call great lakes regional. And you have to stay out a month as an over the road driver.
The simple truth about marten transport

Thank you and this is the point I'm trying to make ; with this csa stuff and dot regulators( bodysnatchers) in full swing to generate revenue off the backs of the working class, we need to unite and organize to be able to make a decent or shall I say a living wage !
U4EA Thanks this. -
I would help! But, I already know the battle. All you will get from company drivers or drivers in general. Is: will you get me out of a ticket? Nope sure won't! You probably gave that ticket to your self. What I will do! Is stand toe to toe with congress and truck hating organizations and fight to bring an end to insanity of the countries hate for truckers. And at the same time fight to protect and bring a better quality of life and the reassurance of your career and job will always remain in this country and not be shipped to Mexico for cheap labor. And later when the fighting done. Then together we can help other drivers and there families with medical or offset the loss of income due to medical or accident. And help assist the kids of trucking with college fees. Can't do it alone folks. And it takes money to get there. So for as long as you have ur head in the sand and your butt in the air. You will always get screwed by every one that walks by.

Our union dues do not support any campaign. There has to be a political action committee for that. Then if you contribute to a PAC your money will go to whoever the union endorses in most cases it's a democratic candidate but lately even the democrats hung unions out to dry with the right to work stuff that Obama failed to pass during his first term.

what good are unions when they are to damnd scared to call for a truck strike???
None of this has to do with the way marten has changed.
Marten 3 years ago started moving to more of a regioanl operation on thier own, as well as putting 90% of long haul on rail. I spent 7 yeaqrs there, with the first 4.5 years really good. The saw little changes start. Noticing i wasn't getting my 2000 miles loads out of Vacavill,ca, to Battle Creek,Mi, for starters. Found 5 of those loads in the thier drop yard, waitingt o be put on the rail
When they opend their western regioanl. i was one of the first to ask about getting on it, yet was always getting told, no we don't need any one, no we are not hiring. Yet every time i went to the Ontario,CA terminal and then Phoenix, you could ask 5 of the new ten hires what they hired for, and they would say western regioanl. SCREW THE SENIOR DRIVERS.
Only the brownnosers who never complained got to move over there.
There are many other threads here about marten that will bacdk this up as well as other issuses.
What once used to be one of the best trucking companies has not hi the bottom of the barrel. Just look at their CSA scores for starters -
