Hello drivers. I am trying to get a CB radio shop/computer repair shop running up here and am at a loss on how to advertise such an establishment. I am hoping that starting a business that offers both services that is also so close to a major artery (I-90) would be a cool business to start up and be a great help to you guys as well. The truck stops don't have cork message boards anymore. Is there a place on this site to post such things? I hate to ask and I know that everyone hates advertisements, but it seems you guys are at a loss for CB repair in a lot of areas these days and I'm at a loss for cash. I'm not just some hack... I do excellent work, was taught the right way by people who knew what they were doing and have lots of experience which is why I'm even considering it at all. Unfortunately though, my promotion skills are far from being up to par with my technical skills. Any ideas would be highly appreciated!
How can I promote a new CB repair business?

You will need to establish yourself. One problem in this type of business is bad repairs and driver is 1000 miles away and can't go back to the original goof that messed up his radio. I've seen guys working anywhere from a shop (usually in a truck stop) to a trailer directly next to a truck stop ( and advertising over CH 19) to a guy running around the parking lot and ad over the CB.

Your best advertisement is word of mouth. You do good work for someone, they'll tell everyone that asks.
Like Allow Me says, have your business next to a truck stop if possible and advertise on the CB.
Like any business, it takes time to get established and grow.
I did have a shop mess up a radio once in rare traveling lanes for me. He had me ship it to him and he shipped it back in perfect shape, paid for shipping and everything.
I was very pleased the way he handled the situation. That was the CB shop just north of Richmond,VA by the truckstops there.volvodriver01 and bluebandit834 Thank this. -
The absoloute BEST advertising is Word of Mouth. Do top quality work at reasonable prices and treat your customers like gold. Your name will quickly spread nationwide. Lots of new, small businesses go under quickly by wasting money on "Advertizing Schemes". Consider your customer base and it's mobility.
Do you have any trucking cos or repair shops in your area? Ask them if you can leave some businesss cards or flyers in their "driver's room". Consider going "moblile" with an old bus or van, etc rather than tying yourself up in an expensive location that may or may not be easily acceptable to your customers. Most truckers will not have the time or inclination to drive several miles "out of route".
And don't forget that most drivers are basically clueless about how a good cb should work.bluebandit834 Thanks this. -
