Well I made it home. What a miserable trip last night was. Traffic was horrible coming out of Baltimore, up I95 last night. There was an accident blocking the left hand lane like 2 exits up and it was bumper to bumper for like 45 mins to an hour at like 11pm. Then it rained and was very foggy most of they way. The last 2 hours was an absolute downpour on the NY 87.
I left at 11pm and drove until 7am. Not fun in the weather. I started to get so sleepy too. I actually pulled over and took a 15 minute nap. Thank god that really helped. The cool part though was delivering to CSX this morning. Had to actually drive through the same tunnel a train came through and past a ton of trains. It would have been scary but I followed a guy to where I had to go. Some of the roads were challenging to get around there but I made it through with no probs.
It was awsome to see the family, especially my kids. I took a nap with my three year old girl curled up next to me. That made my day. Also seeing my son's face when he came off the bus was awsome too. My one year old is getting so big! More running and she said da da when I walked in the house was so cool. Makes me want to get a local gig.
I actually saw the first hydrofracking ad in NY. Might have to apply. 20 bucks an hour and time and a half after 40, and they want 6 12 hour shifts. Thats some serious dough! Will have to see. mmmm. I like Roehl but that would be like triple what I will make.
Oh well, turkey day at Mom's tomorrow will be fun. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!! Stay safe all!!! -
Yeah Roehl definitely looks like one of the better ones for sure. How often can you get home with Roehl? Is it possible to get back every 10 days, or is it more like 14? Yeah that was one of my problems with USX as well, the auto shifts, but it does appear they are buying all new 10 speeds and transferring back to manual. Have a good Thanksgiving!

Depends on where you live on what kind of fleet you want to run on. Home time was set up on 11-14 days gets you 3 at home, 14-18 gets you 4, and so on. There is a thread about it. Some places are easier than others to get home to.

This my opion on that job, dont take sersouis ok shotsjc, but you have a good gig going now, you trained hard and well, sure you can make three times the money over there, but what if that job drys up in three month's , that's the quistion you have too ask yourself, right now your job is stable, and then you get that nasty checkmark label on any resume , called a job hopper, there like advance's, if you dont need em , dont use um,keep your work history clean, it will look better down the road,be thankfull you have a job now ,a loving family, and happy Thanksgiving.

Watch out for the Gas jobs, with the price of natural gas in an almost free fall, drilling is going to slow down everywhere. Where I am at in Northern PA, most of the drilling is just test wells. They drill, frack, and cap. Once they define the limits of the field, the drilling will stop until gas prices go back up. I have watched oil go boom, bust in my area at least 4 times in my lifetime. I have also watched alot of guys make a ton of money, to only turn around and lose everything when the work goes away. Just be careful...

Well hometime was too short. I miss the family already. I was ready to roll at 8am this morning but had to wait till noon to get a load. They need me to get towards Gary to pick up my permits.
I called my fleet mgr to ask her to call me when I got a load because my kids were watching me across the street waiting for like two plus hours. Of course as soon as I get there and make some lunch the phone rings. lol.
I drove like 200 miles today. Have another 80 or so to the shipper but this seemed like it for a place to park for the night. I figured I would just get an early start in the morning. I am tired from the weekend anyways. Watched a movie and am headed for bed.
Stay safe all!!! -
What are you watching the Netflix on? I have a internet thingy for my laptop which I get 5 GB a month on, how much memory is used by say a 2 hr movie? When I stream a 45 minute or so show seems like it uses around 300-350 Mb so I can't do that too often before reaching 5 gigs. Thanks for any insights.
