i had a question and wanted to put some input in too.
1) anyone wondering about internet, i have AT&T/Cingular's wireless internet card, usb wireless connector. i get decent speed with it, great for browsing, chatting, emailing, the usual. downloading music or videos may take a bit depending on where your at. but it works considerably well. im typing this while my codriver is doin 60mph on the i65so i guess that makes this high speed internet? lol
ok onto my other question.... im wondering if anyone else did this and how, just for my own curiousity. i was down at our atlanta terminal and i heard a driver talkin about how he riged up his qualcomm reciever to double as a satttilite tv antenna. said he has direct tv thru the qualcomm antenna... im curious if anyone else has figured this out and how they did it.
dunno if id ever do it but id still like to find out to satisfy my ever wanting need for knowlege

I don't know about the Qualcomm antenae idea but there is a directv antennae that will mount on the qualcomm bracket called the VueCube. The truck has to be stopped for it to work though. They make mobile directv antennaes that will work on the move. They are flat panels that can be mounted on the roof but they cost like $2000-3000.
For your internet, are you using a Cingular card or are you going through the cell phone. The reason I ask is because I hear it costs $59/month for the card, but I pay $20/month and connect my laptop to the cell phone. The speed is a little slower but I have never had a problem with it.

A LITTLE slower???
I had to get rid of my old Sprint Card, because I got a new laptop, and went back to using a cell-phone while waiting to get a card that WILL work (just ordered one off eBay day before yesterday)
The speed with a cell phone is excruciatingly slow and I can't wait for the U720 RevA USB Broadband modem to arrive in the mail this week.
I get 112K in most areas and get 300 to 500k in some major metro areas that have Sprint Wireless Broadband. Sure beats the D/L speeds of 12k to 14k I get with a cell-phone. -
I wouldn't ever call 60mph "high-speed". But that is just me. -
Maybe if you are hauling a wide load, you can call it broadband.

lol
yeah im using a card, i got a usb card so it will work with an computer

How much is the VUECUBE????? I have been looking into internet for my truck but like most of you all I have had issues with the cards... any help there would be greatly appreciated.
-
I think Vuecubes run around $400-600 bucks depending on model and where you get it from, and they mount to an adapter for the Qualcomm ant. They are for directv only, no internet
