I have been reading alot of threads on LandStar and CRST Malone. Alot of good info but none really when it comes to comparing the two. If you were choosing between these two company's to lease your truck onto which one would you choose? Why?

I've been with Landstar 2 years and couldn't be happier! My main reason
is the freedom to pick and choose when and where you wanna run. Good luck choosing.

Seems that the two company's are about the same. Just wondering which one drivers think is the better of the two.. Which one has more good paying Loads? Flatbed or drop deck side of the business is what I am looking to compare the two company's for. Vans all about the same. These two outfits seem to always come up so thought this would be a good idea so the guys can just get the best info on one thread. Thanks.

Malone will train someone new to flatbed unlike Landstar where you need to know the operation before you run with them.

    BigBadBill and volvodriver01 Thank this.

Actually, with Landstar all you do is go to St. Augistine, FL for a 2 day securement class and that's it. I know Landstar's trailer rental is MUCH better and cheaper too....all you pay is the weekly rental fee $150 flat/$165 SD i believe) and that is it!! Thery take care of all maintance, tires, brakes, PM's ect ect......

    volvodriver01 Thanks this.

I have never leased to either company. But when I need fill. Landstar's load board is pretty reliable for getting small LTL pieces going in my direction. Some of which pay surprisingly well. Some of which are meh.

    volvodriver01 and BigBadBill Thank this.

Thanks SHC I didn't realize that! I'm wondering if the 2 day securement class is adequate for a driver with no experience?

    volvodriver01 Thanks this.

I'm a BCO. Last I knew, a driver coming in with no platform or RGN experience, had to run van for 6 months before you get to meet Harold in St. Augustine. The best thing to do is check with a LS recruiter though as they will have the latest policies.

    Travelinman and volvodriver01 Thank this.

Thanks for the info.. Just trying to get some good info on preference and why. This can become a very good thread for the drivers looking at these two companies. Thanks again.
