@WA4GCH: I've found some stations operating FM in the 26.965-27.405 band, and the "free" bands I even "worked" a few prior to becoming licensed.
I even "got a wild hair" one day and hooked up a key to my "President Lincoln", and had a CW "QSO" with a SSB OP, even though my knowledge of Morse code was not complete and there were gaps that the Amateur/CB OP had to fill in for himself! And yes, he was an amateur radio operator who had "drifted" into the C.B. frequencies, and responded when he heard someone with a very lousy "fist" sending "CQ DX" on a old very simple "scissors" style military key!!! (it had two finger loops, a pair of military style binding posts at the other end, and a NSN painted on it in white over the olive drab basic color).

Yeah, I believe that it was WWII or K.W. era item. Probably issued with the old "man portable" H.F "rigs" and maybe even with some of the "RATT rigs" possibly up to the end of the Vietnam war.
This one was hand-held, (no base on it), and had a loop for the thumb and a loop one or two fingers. looking at it from one end (the one with the finger/thumb loops, you might mistake it for a pair of scissors, and at the other end it had a pair of the spring-loaded (military field phone) binding posts. I found a "near look-alike" in the White Rook MK-44 Iambic keyer, take the base off, put two metal loops on the operator end, and a pair of spring loaded binding posts on the radio end, and there you'd have it.
The way I came to have it was through a NAV-MARCORPS MARS operator friend of mine.
I was loaned the key and my friend never asked for it's return before he became a "SK". I do not know if the key was obtained from MARS, or privately. I have since misplaced it and have been looking for a replacement since.

Nothing beyond proper alignment. Unless destroying equipment and wasting money is your hobby. Or buy an amp that can take that much input power. Something in the 64 pills line. Assuming you have 40 horsepower to spare to run your monster alternators and still pass people in traffic. I had several cars in the 70's that could do that while loafing at 115 but none of them would run on the gas they sell today.
