These SPD never made the reg's in OZ so from what I gather they were not allowed to be sold in a Truck. Cat themselves never shipped that SPD to OZ so they didn't present the EPA info. This resulted in the Petes not being registrable with the SPD engines.
Assuming that was the case it would explain why he did the engine Change out and why he is wanting to offload the SPD's.. Recoup some money on the expensive exersize maybe?
cant see anyone in OZ wanting one... there was some imported into WA from Cats Testing grounds in USA and they didn't sell and went to Auction. From memory they went for @$10k.. Spare parts value. -
I understood why the engine were up for sale........I was giving you a hard time about your offer to purchase them. LOL. In my mind I can see you converting them to a earlier engine arrangement for resale. But knowing how controlling your government is about trucks and there operating status is in your country, I can also see them never being able to be used even if they were converted to a MXS engine because of the serial numbers stamped into the block.
Between converting the trucks to right hand drive and the engine exchange, I don't believe the bloke had much of an idea as how to make a profit on these trucks. -
Thats the one I was thinking of.
You are right, you can't convert the engine as the only thing that matters to them is the number stamped in the block.
They do actually make pretty good money converting Petes for right hand drive out here, there is a guy locally that import them and does conversions, mostly older Petes, think he make a reasonable living out of it as he's been doing it for years. -
Funny how you find info on these old threads. I know where at least two of those SDP’s are right now
