I wish you were, too. I thought about holding out until you came to Prime. But, I knew that if I didn't do it sooner rather than later I would never leave my comfort zone. Tom Bodett says it best "we'll leave the light on for ya."

As U2 said where both sitting, I just spend less time at a customer. I enjoy the challenge of flatbedding. Not just the physical aspect, but the thought that goes into it. I have to figure out HOW I'm going to secure it before I can actually do it. It requires thinking about what your doing. We have a lot more laws to deal with than the other divisions. I don't care how many people don't respect what I do, I love it. I don't want to do anything else.

One thing I've learned after a 40+ year in aviation is this: No matter what anyone promises or says, that new airplane is not yours until you see it sitting on your ramp with your name on the side and your boss has the keys. How this applies here is this: Never, ever "hold out" til anyone comes to Prime or not. Especially me. You can only control your own present and plan for your own future somewhat and I'm still a fed with another 30+ days to go. Then there's the whole OPM thing to deal with for a while...

My time will come but I sure do not want anyone to wait for me. That's a burden I do not want to carry. :biggrin_2559:

Oh, I wouldn't put anyone in that position. Heck, I just have too much time on my hands. When I retired in 2001, I received my annual leave check within two weeks and I had received one estimated annuity monthly check. (I was CSR and had two years under FERS) On the second monthly annuity payment I was paid my full retirement plus additional monies for the under estimated month.

Hopefully, OPM has improved in ten years and by the second month you'll be all straightened out, too. Actually, my retirement transition was the first thing OPM ever got right.

Well, not really. The Baby Boomer retirements have begun and the size of gummint has shrunk since 2001, so OPM is behind. Now, getting the leave check takes at least two pay periods (4 weeks for you non-gov types) and finally figuring out your "final" annuity can take six months or more.
