Werner shaves 8-12% of actual miles from your pay. When I purchased (not leased) one of their newer trucks, I found they were giving me all the heavy loads. Some shipper BOL's would show the FSC (fuel surcharge) rate paid, and Werner was keeping half of that for themselves. Thieves.

I currently drive werner on a "dedicated lane". I drive from the seattle area to central california area, now at first glance thats only about a 700 mile run but when you do that 5 times every 70 hours with a 34 hour reset at the end of the week thats not too bad, im not makin a WHOLE lot cpm but it pays the bills and i am gettin my expierence. I have quite a few buddies that work here as well, and they arnt the happiest truck drivers on the road but they thankful for what they have. As far as i can see if you bust your butt with this company and make a few sacrifices to kiss some butt in the beginning you will be rewarded soon enough. Also most of the big companies that hire new cdl holders are going to be like werner. Its like any other career you start off at the bottom and work your way up. Honestly werner has its problems and i dont argue that, but if you give it a chance its not THAT bad lol. with me sticking with this company and making sacrifices i now qualify for alot of good paying local jobs back home. Think of it this way, working for werner is almost like going to college, use it as a stepping stone to get up in life.

I'm with Werner and I think they are ok, I'm running team as well, we have our runs that are great and some that are crappy, there ok. The drivers are great people and all seem to help out and talk with each other, my only real complant with werner is
the relations with there office people and guard shack personale* there rude for the most part to the drivers, which in all makes you feel not wanted with the company, they are there to help but they act like we are a problem??? go figure... I know it isnt just me others say the same thing. my dispacther is a good guy as well, he does what he ca do as do we ( but he's the only office personale* that has been good)
and LOL as for the mechanics well...... thats another chapter all together, slow, slow, slow, as slow as a inch worm slow they are. no hurrys that devision,,,, werner would have way less csa problems if they had a quicker vehicle fix rate, drivers wouldnt mind coming in for safety check more often, its sad when you sit for 24 hours waiting on a tire change or something trivail that they need to do and wont let you do.. -
Me and my trainer did 2800 miles from Sunday night to wednesday night that's including unloading(dollar general account) and dealing with washington dc traffic so far it has been ok, I only got about 60 hours since he decided to spend quality time with his family. The only thing he told me is that never ever reject a load if you want to make good money down the road he also tries to avoid Allentown terminal at all cost since he says they will do a throughly inspection and keep you off the road for at least a day. Ohh they made us spend almost 2days at home because a 4 dollar clip in the door broke and they didn't want to pay overnight shipping.

Hello everyone. I am fresh out of driving school and have orientation tomorrow at the Lithia Springs terminal. I've heard a lot of the horror stories about Werner, but I'm planning on just putting my head down and dealing with it to get my first year experience. I'm wondering what is best for making the most money, and getting more miles, regional or 48 states. I'm single with no family and am not concerned about home time. Any advice would be much appreciated.

sorry, but no my job isn't to teach someone to shift.that is part of a cdl driving test.one time i spent almost a week trying to teach someone to shift.he never did get it,and i didn't get anything for spending that time there.a trainers job is to refine skills he should have learned in school and bring everything together, along with teaching life on the road, and paperwork, and how to properly deal with customers.and how to properly manage there trip and time.

The only complaints I have with Werner is down time, and crappy equipment. I have been with my trainer for almost 4 weeks, and I only have 128 hours of driving in. Since I started the truck has been in the shop 2 different times each time has been for several days since starting training I have had 11 Idle days and still sitting as we speak for the truck to be repaired. I talked to my SDM and they can't do anything until I can get to a terminal. So what this is boiling down to is that my 4-6 week training is going to take at least 7 weeks as of now. And that means more time with crappy pay. I understand that when I get on my own that trucks still break down, but I would at least make more than $350 a week, with prior miles ran.
ChargerChuck Thanks this. -
I did work for werner , one think i di not like is that they have fired my trainer very nice guy and very clean. i didn't understand the reason ! they claimed safety . didnot make any sense . The man was a company man , cared for everything worked for them for two years .
however i continued for two more weeks on training until i got my driver certificate and a truck. made first load and end up in truck shop set for 1 week and then quite.
being trainee with warner pays better then being driver so stay as trsinee as long as you can .
