1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

My old company screwed me, so they showed me their true colors.
My new company loves me, and I'm happy.
Old company calls me wanting me to return.
I tell old company to #### off.

    Easy enough.

Thanks to everyone who's replied so far. This is not the first time that I've had companies fighting over me. I have a squeaky clean abstract, always make my schedules (within an hour or so), and don't pull any punches with dispatch. I don't swear at my dispatchers, I let them know if I am on schedule or now, I put in my time off requests way in advance.

I have owned and operated my own businesses in the past, and ALWAYS sold them at a profit when I decided it was time to get out. Dunno if this is relevant or not, but I kniow how to negotiate.

I have been approached by the local Teamsters to be the local representative. I am NOT a union member.

Apparently, my old boss told my new boss (during the referenece check process), "whatever you do, KEEP HIM."

My wife thinks that if I can, I should take an office job with McConnel, so long as I don't leave Bestway twisting in the wind. I am seriously considering it, but here's the deal: does becoming an office guy make me "the enemy"?

No, an office job doesn't make you the enemy, however it make you one of THEM. :biggrin_25523:

I would stay with the new company too.
The company I worked at before my present company refused to increase my pay to what I wanted. Eventually I left (getting more where I am than what I was asking the previous employer) and they ended up replacing me with 4 people... I suppose they finally worked out that the pay increase I was requesting was actually their best option. Too late for them!
I scored out of the deal, cos I love where I am and I am doing what I want, rather than just being good at what I did!

Also, if you are considering going into an office position... consider how you will feel in one building all day, constantly in the same people's close proximity. If you are comfortable with that, go for it.

I have done both desk jobs and operations jobs, and far prefer being out on the road trucking than sitting behind a desk doing paperwork. But its all about personal choices.

Good luck in making your choice...!

    Captain,

I can't really add anything to what others have said...I don't have any industry experience at all right now.

But...I wanted to ask you about NB specific stuff.

I am starting 12 week training next week in Moncton and I am wondering what your thoughts are on job prospects for a new grad in NB?

I am in the Fredericton area and prefer not to relocate - I own a house here.

Any thoughts or advice are appreciated! Good to see a fellow New Brunswicker!
