Look no further. Call Epes. They are up front but don't mess around either, got high standards and don't cut corners.
I just started otr training last week and they treated me like I had been with them for years in trying to get me back home Wednesday afternoon for the holidays. I didn't expect it but was very appreciative of it! Before we finished any load we had last week we were preplanned on another. All but one was drop and hook too. Can't wait to see what this week is like!!

I would PM but I dont have enough post yet!!
Hello I have a couple questions on epes, I am going to start trucking school at sage in Rocky Mount NC at the first of the year! Does epes pre hire or do they do it after school. The reason i am asking cause i currently work for the NC DOC for 10 years, i am planning on stop working when I go to school, very nervous about it but this is what my family has descided to do!! I really like what I have read about the company. I live in Roanoke Rapids, NC and see there trucks around here all the time, but planning on doing OTR for a while!! Any advise would be great thanks!!!!!!

Epes do have a strict hiring policy, so be up front when filling out the application, or you will be weeded out during orientation. The driving test is not easy, you don't have a straight back on your backing test, it's an angle backing. I didn't know this til a couple of days ago, they will hire people fresh out of driving school, but if you were with another company and have less then a year experience they will not hire you. Plus, if you were a local driver with another company (no matter how many years experience) they will put you with a trainer OTR. A driver on the account that I am on (17 years experience) had to go back on training with a trainer (5 years experience). You get past those hoops, Epes is so far a good company to drive for.

Epes is one of the few in my area I would recommend. They are a good company and a good example how trucking companies should be ran.

There's an Epes driver that lives down the road from me. You can set your watch by his home time. He's there every Friday.

You made a good choice pops. Good luck with your career.

I dated a woman from Irmo once. Small world! :)

If every one would see the good examples out here, the bad carriers
One day will have to inprove! And yes the hiring requirements
Are high! The driver repesents the company! Best of luck to every
One! Pops hope week two is going good! L

    Hi everyone,

I recently contacted Epes and am going through the hiring process. I must say so far they are far better than the company I previously drove for.

Anyway on to the point, I have been watching this thread for a while and mentioned it to the recruiter. If any of you guies currently working for Epes want to PM my your name, I guess you get some sort of bonus.

Just wanted to offer you the free money if your interested:)

Look forward to seeing you out there.

Hello from the home front! WOW! What a great week on the road. Got finished last night around 9pm, Epes was able to get me a ride back to Columbia, SC early this morning. Will be back out late Monday or early Tuesday, my trainer has a doctors appointment Monday morning.
I need to review my notes to remember all the details but I drove in GA, NC, VA, WV, MD, PA, DE and maybe a few others this week. 2000 plus miles. Pretty good tour for the first full week OTR. Epes is an outstanding place to work.
Will post more about my adventures at the end of each week. Too busy during the week.
Epes does hire out of school, with no experience, they will take applications way before you graduate from school and yes, be honest, they will check everything and will weed out the ones that don't qualify or try to hide anything.
    Keep the wheels rolling !!
