Hey all I was considering this option to run with Schneider and I had a few questions. The run is on a 5 days on 2 days off schedule averaging 1500 miles. What appealed to me was the tuition reimbursement, western states, and more hometime. Im young and currently rent but I have the option to give up my place and crash at my gf's house when Im not out there. More hometime=more surfing. However, 1500 miles at up to .36 per mile (most likely less in my case) doesnt add up to much per week. I would have to drive my own car from Monterey to pick up my truck near Stockton and have to slip seat. But from what Ive read Schneider is a good starter company and I have the option to work in a variety of trucking jobs with them. Next week it will be them or applying to Coke, Pepsi, two beer distributers, and a construction company which are all local. Is this regional run worth it??

i would not even turn the key in there truck for 540 a week. no way do you really won't to be on the road 5 days a week for 540 and if you are working 14 hr days that would be 7.7 dollers a hr
-
funny thing is once you remove uncle sam from your pockets your left with a NET of around 400 dollars a week, all mega carriers pay this for new people.
-
really 400 bucks a week... to be on the road like that are you for real.. hell i made more then that being tranded to get my class A at pepsi but i did have my class b before going in
-
Still at pepsi?? I'm considering coke as well
-
I am just wondering where you got that 1500 miles a week quote from? If you are running 5 days, you should be driving a minimum of 2000 miles, that is accounting for drop and hooks and live loads and unloads.
I get my butt chewed if I don't drive at least 400 miles a day(assuming there were no circumstances beyond my control) -
-
that makes a difference. 4 vs 5 days is about 500(average) difference.
-
Yea but is there really part time OTR driving?? What is that all about?
-
This is what the carriers are trying to get to...regional, not really OTR...kinda, but not really.
