My truck has had the bunk heater out for some time. So I got an electric blanket and have been toughing threw it till they get me to a shop. Now the apu wont stay started. Which causes the truck to get low voltage and shut down my outlets inturn shuting off the blanket or anything i could get to heat the sleeper at night. I've notified RA and msg'd dispatch and all i get is, "we will try and get you here" but always dispatched elsewhere.

At what point do i put my foot down? And who do i talk to if I keep getting the same brush off. I don't like pissing off people, or being ugly, I try to be nice to them at all costs, but I'm sitting here shivering as I type this and its getting old.

First off leave your truck running. Idle the truck, and talk with your dispatcher, and let him/her know that your idleing your truck. Next explained that you have told them that your bunk heater is not working and your apu does not stay on. You have asked numerous time to route you to springmo and you keep getting sent on dispatches away. Know as long as they keep doing this the truck will idle and they can explaine to Mr. Lowe why the fuel mileage is low. Make sure you send a Qualcomm message so its in writing. I hope you have sent Qualcomm messages that your apu is not working. Anyways try that and see if that doesn't light a fire. Other then that send an email to your dispatcher and copy Mr. Lowe. That's what I would if I was in your position.

ok that brings up the question on how to bypass, or get around the idle shutoff. I know I can release tractor brakes and set trailor brakes and it will idle, but like rightnow i'm bobtail.

Set your cruise. Run it at 1000 tons. In other words, when you park set your brakes, put truck in neutral and turn cruse on. Mesh on fuel pedal to bring rpm to 1000 and set it. Truck should stay on.

It won't stay on. If you have an APU, Prime has programmed the trucks to shutdown... Even if opti idle is on the dash.

I was successful to get it to stay on for 30 min with tractor brakes released and trailer brakes set. It was -23 in Fargo and my APU was out... I honestly think it went a half hour because the computer will increase the idle allow time if the sensors are indicating a cold to warm up status.

It's a health issue... Depending on where you are and the outside temps. Take it right up the chain... If your FM is stalling tell him you want to speak to the division supervisor. Reefer is Steve Larson.

If you are insisting on Springfield, forget it. Tell them to send you to the nearest Prime shop. Be it Pittston or even SLC...

Meanwhile you need to have everything unplugged in the cab before you park for the day. Only plug in your blanket when you go to bed. My APU isn't working either, however I can run my bunk heater and my CPAP for over 9 hours without getting a low voltage alarm or cutoff of power.
