    I have a 12.7 with a problem.
The problem is not always there but seems to be worse when you need the power. What happens is that you are running down the road at 65 miles per hour (or any speed) and pulling fine and then all over a sudden the truck feels like it loses power (it doesn't miss). Just as suddenly as it loses power it comes back. This happens off and on over and over and over gain. The throttle potentiometer was changed recently. Could it be bad? Nothing else other than normal maintenance. Fuel filters are changed all the time.

Telling us the year really helps.
First check you fuel pressure, then the CAC, Clean the battery terminals and cables. everyone you can find. I would make an extra soldered cable and run it from the right front of the engine to the frame.
You will have to get a laptop that has a program in it and when the condition happens record the event.
If there are codes get them fixed first.
Check you fuel return for compression, When I got to that point and was on a road test I would add an extra hose with a clear section and loop it over the mirror that way I could see the return fuel, if that was a problem.

Fuel pump driven off air compressor Pablo? Would this cause low MPG Pablo?

Did I neglect to say it's getting bad mileage?
Well, I'm not sure (I'm going to drive the truck in a few weeks and see if it's the truck or the driver) but right now it's only getting high 4's milage.
I did test drive the truck a week ago without the trailer hooked up and it ran #### good. I didn't drive it long enough for it do to the little kick in kick out thing I was describing in the other post. It was idling funny that day (doing that hunting around thing) It has a fuel pro filter and the level was way down at the bottom. I loosened the top cap and poured some seafoam in the filter put the cap back on and after a few minutes it idled perfect and the level in the filter was higher. I don't know if this means anything or not.

A bad boost sensor could cause this. just recently, my truck would lose power & then gain back, immd. my cause was the oil pressure sensor was going bad & it caused to derate & reduce boost pressure. no codes. nothing else. truck idle ran great, no miss, just cruising along & no power for 2-3 seconds & back to power again.

I chased a cut out problem for 2 months on a 2000 12.7 60 series. Driving down the road it would act like you shut the ignition off and was very random. Changed everything for nothing. Ended up being the small ground (10 gauge) wire that runs from the starter to the block was not making good contact because of corrosion. Its about 12" long. Took it off and cleaned it problem solved. Cost me a couple thousand dollars changing other parts though.

When you get power again, none of the dash lights come on, correct? If so, I'd guess you probably have a fuel hose or fitting sucking air.

I'm not losing electrical power. I'm losing horse power. It drops out and then comes back in. It does this in no certain time interval but the driver says it's usually when he needs the power the most.
