OK here is the situation I am in. I have been with the company I am with for about 3 months now. Great company over all. Good equipment, well taken care of, great home time (home every weekend). I am over all very happy here with 1 big problem. Very low miles. When I say low I am talking 1200-1500 a week. Now I am not trying to make a fortune out here and be home every week because I know that wont happen. I am wanting to average around 2000 miles a week which is only 400 miles a day average. I am needing advice because I know good companies are hard to find where you are completly happy and like I said for the most part I am with the execption of low miles. Any good advice on what I should do. Please dont just look at the miles because I am looking at the entire picture not just the miles thats why I am having issues as to what to do.

    Thanks for the help everyone

If it's a good company, you should be able to talk to your dispatcher, boss, etc, and explain the situation.

You say home every weekend. Is that your requirement or just the way they work, like every driver's home every weekend ? You being home means you miss out on some good runs, because dispatch is sending you home instead of giving you a nice run for the weekend.

No its not requirement. I am on the regional side and they do get us home unless we say we want to stay out but when I stay out over the weekend I am still only getting 1800-2200 miles. Which yes its more miles but it also cost me more to stay out more days. So I am not sure which is better in the long run of things.

Yes I have talked to other company drivers and they all say the same thing that they are not getting miles either. Thats my problem I dont know weather to stick it out or to try to find another company but Im affraid if I leave I will either be in the same boat Im in now or somehing even worse.

I see you are located in Memphis, and running that area quite a bit I am sure there are other companies that u can go to and be home weekends and get more miles. I see plenty of Memphis and Arkansas trucks running up and down 40/30 to Dallas every week. Like TSI and Maverick, or Builders Transport, also check into MTS as they now have a terminal in Sikeston, MO area. Or heck, even Fed-EX as Memphis is their major hub.

Just some thoughts, but also are u making good money per mile?? That's another big factor.

Well u have enough experience to go elsewhere so why not put some feelers out to other companies and see how it goes??? At least weigh out the other options out there before u settle for less than stellar paychecks.
