Does May Trucking have/allow the following in their trucks:

    Wire-in inverters (say 1500-2000W)?

    APUs?

    Fridges?

    Microwaves?

What about pets and rider policies?

search button is your friend, as is the may site, but...
    Yes, wired inverters.
They have a great one thru the company for $225 installed ($25/wk payroll dedeuction)
2000W true trucking industry inverter. I have had my fridge, microwave, and Foreman Grill running at once with no issues (that should answer the other questions lol)
Yes riders (18+ anytime, 13+ during school breaks)
    NO PETS

    The Gryphon Thanks this.

Great! Thank you. I admit that I was lazy and didn't use the search here, but I did try to look the May site over pretty well, and didn't see anything there. I muse have missed it, so thanks for responding!

How do you like driving for them?

Few other things that I should have asked the recruiter, what model Qualcomm, and do they use it just for dispatch, or e-logs as well? Are the trucks governed? How many miles per week on average? How's the health insurance? When does a new employee become eligible? What type of equipment? How new is it on average? How many trucks/drivers?

How long is the orientation and how long are you out with a trainer before you're assigned your own truck?

BTW, I was very impressed with the recruiter who called me to follow up on the application I placed online. I know that the recruiters are supposed to be nice and tell me what I want to hear. But the one from May seemed more personable and as though she cared more about me. A number of the rest of the recruiters just seemed as though they were regurgitating standard information by rote, etc.

The pay seems decent, if not better than most and if the recruiter is any gauge, they seem to care more about me as an individual driver than the rest.

But it could be that she's just a really good recruiter, huh? :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559:

Great! Thanks for the info and congrats on getting a new truck!!

I'm just waiting to hear back. I'm still in driving school and have a few weeks left to go. But I'd like to get a firm invitation to orientation from May Trucking ASAP.

I'll hit you up via PM to ask you a couple of more things!

Justawheel he gets the miles out of Pcola, he is the only one I know getting great miles. My trainer does not post but averages same as me. He called me today told me he has a 750 mile run delivers Monday afternoon in Syracuse. It's not the terminal its the planning.

I know of 4 other May drivers from P-Cola getting 2700+ ea wk
I just just turned in my truck for a new 587. In 54 weeks, I put 138k on it. (268k at issue, 406k at turn in)
That's 2555/wk assuming I never took off. There were at least three breaks of 7 days each, and then another five breaks of 4-6 days each. so that's at least 6 weeks of break time. ~ Average of 2875 driven per on-duty week.

Justawheelholder, the reality is that your experience at May is the exception, not the rule. The guys that are struggling and are sharing their frustrations are not benefitting from your consistent posting of your numbers, new truck truck, etc. I can assure you it its more like pushing a persons head down under the water that is drowning. Just my opinion, of course.

Now, I know for a fact that May recently implemented a pilot program with 10 new drivers that guarantees a fixed rate of pay for the six mos. The reason is because the mileage average for newer drivers tends to be lower at first and May realizes that drivers get discouraged because of it and quit within the first 3 to 6 mos because of it. So, that pilot program itself gives credence to some of the frustrations expressed by platinum and others here regarding their experience with lack of sufficient miles.

I never once said my experience was the standard...except for me lol
Seriously, I only post to show it's not some horrible, bottom feeder company. But, like I said, I know of at least 4 drivers, whom I talk to on a regular basis, that are getting miles similar to mine.
