Good luck with Roehl. Keep us posted!

dark_reaper - Gene Krantz did not say "Failure is not an option". It was ad-libbed by Ed Harris during filming of Apollo 13 and it was such a good improv that they left it in the movie.

you know if we get enough guys from Jax maybe Roehl will open a terminal down there for us LOL...Just kidding...but the drop yard isn't too bad...can be a little crowded...

I thought about doing FSCJ's program...but Roehl's was free...(they give vets free school)..

Dark_reaper, FSCJ is opening a night class program. The hours? I do not know. Might be worth checking out. The reality is this, when I was in school for my CDL at FSCJ and juggling work right after, I was so tired that I forgot alot of stuff and struggled the first few weeks. I said F it, put my notice in and when it came to skills pad time I didn't work. Then again I was alittle more healthy financially because I saved up in preparation for this. Also, I don't doubt you passed me in Yulee, I went right through there two weeks ago to pick up a load. Should of waved at me! Not that I would of known who you were haha.

Proxima, FSCJ (CDL Program) is located in Jacksonville, FL. Off of Cecil Center Commerce Prkway (I-10). Not sure what vqq means. (If referring to the old pad they had, it's a brand new one located right down the road from the old one)

Mic, that friggin drop yard is a mess! I pulled in yesterday (thanksgiving) to drop a loaded trailer and bobtail home.. Hell took me 30 minutes to find a spot and I had to blind side it. I came inches from hitting the trailer / tractor parked but me being me I GOAL any time I don't know where I am at. I HATE blind siding anything but this spot had no choice. Oh well, everyone was home enjoying thanksgiving so I can't complain about the drop yard that much. Usually it has a few holes.

However, that young kid running the gate pisses me off everytime. I'm always a nice guy and ask how your day is going.. and usually just shoot the BS for a second. Kid looks at me with a F you stare.. Barely responsive.

Flattbedder, so far I'm liking Roehl alot. Keeping me moving non-stop. Hell I went to canada last week. Which is good! Being that I live in Florida, it takes them all those miles to get me back home which means more money in my pocket. Last two weeks and 4 days I put a total of 7200 miles on that truck. I'm happy, my wallets happy, and the sights I've seen are just amazing. If you ever have a question that you have a hard time asking on here or don't know how to word it, just ask for my number and I'll PM you it.

As for the past two weeks and 4 days, I only have a few things I really am not happy about. Minor things.. Roehl pushes how they are the home time fleet. Well I stayed out extra few days so I could be home on the 22nd and have thanksgiving off. Well I got home at 10am on thanksgiving. Some times you get loads but don't get all the information you need in order to pick it up so you have to wait on your FM. I had a coolant leak pretty bad, took them a week to get me to gary. In Gary took them all day to get to my truck and then they turned around to tell me I had a "imaginary leak". Said ok, got my truck back and pulled right into the yard, still leaking. Went back in got the mechanic and showed him actually where it is leaking from. Fixed now. Also my jake brake, clutch brake, several other things on my truck don't work properly (jake not at all (Well cuts in and out)) and they told me they don't want to fix it because my truck is about to be sold. Oh well, I'll keep having to jam it into gear and thin out those brakes down grades.

Other then those things, I'm enjoying it alot. I picked a pretty awesome company and everytime my FM picks up that phone, I'm not a number. They always answer it with "Hey mat".. Yeah their computer tells them, but makes me feel better then being a number.

Lantern...the problem is getting loads in and out of florida...I have problems getting there and my FM usually tries to schedual me to Jax 3 days before I have to be there knowing how hard it is to find loads to Florida...Getting out of Florida is an even bigger hassal....from jax you will either go to Palatka or Just south of Savanna to get a GP Paper load...trust me you would rather go to Palatka...its right down 17..easy to get to...and not too much in ways of issues once there...Rican plant now...well thats a different story...I got stuck for a day and a half there because they were behind....
As far as maint. is concerned...avoid ellenwood unless you need an emergency repair...Gary isn't bad they are just busy cause of their location...Appleton is excellent...and so is marshfield...I have heard Iron Mountain is great too... My FM works with me to get me to facilities we know can get me in and out fast since time is of the essence in this business...

PS I know what you mean...Its nice and dark except for the lights in your face when you are trying to back...you might think your straight..that is until morning...then its like What the hell did I do.... Right now I leave my truck in the DY since I don't have a house in Florida anymore...I usually sleep in it while I am there for guards...my car is parked with all the other ones...hopefully nobody has jacked it yet...

FSCJ is running a night CDL program, Starts 01/09/2012 Mon-Fri 6pm-10pm. There are only 12 spots open and i was number 10 when i registered this week. Also quick question to all, do you have to have your Class A to get Hazmat or is that something i can do before hand.

Hahaha hell sounds like my new fleet managers.. I'm finally out of the phase training and into a normal fleet. Keep in mind I've been out since the 26th, so I could get home on the 22nd for christmas. Well 16th rolls around, I ask if they are going to start running me more south. "Oh yeah, we are here shortly". 19th rolls around, I'm in Marshfield WI... My fleet manager decides to tell me "Well freights slow so we might not be able to get you home". I said look, you don't get me home don't expect me to put in all this effort ever again for you. Day later (I have two fleet managers), I got into a huge argument with my other fleet manager.. Well because I wouldn't take no sh**t from them I got home today (22nd) like planned. I'm not putting in 24+ days effort for you to screw me.

Oh well, past is the past what can you do about it. I still enjoy Roehl so no complaints. I had to go back to the Gary terminal for more repairs but they fixed almost all my problems so a good visit. Abunch of drivers sitting around playing grab ### though and complaining about not getting into the shop. Hell I wasn't under a load, and got into the shop that day I pulled in when the wait was almost a day and a half. I just talked to one of the mechanics and he got me in. Needed a new windshield, tire, clutch adjustment.. etc. All fixed and good to go! Very happy!

Flatbedder, I don't know off the top of my head no. I do know you are able to start the FBI background check or w/e that is before getting your CDL. Hopefully you got Joe lackey as your instructor. He is a great guy and I still talk to him.

Btw, I had alot of issues to this. I friggin buried my truck in some mud had to get towed out.. Embarrassed about that but I guess crap happens
