I was thinking about joining the PGT team and wanted to get the current scoop on what PGT offers:

    1. If you take the percentage option for pay, what constitutes a higher rate (low idle, fewer off route, longevity, etc.)?

-If idle time can hurt your pay, will they let you run an A/C or Bunk heater?

    2. What is allowed in the truck (Inverters, frig, A/C, Heaters, mic, coffee maker, etc.)? Better question may be Is there anything not allowed?

    3. Can you bring your own cb radio/coax/antenna(s) or do you have to use what they give you?

    4. Are routes forced or can you create your own (guessing this would be handy with percentage pay)?

    5. Are you assigned your own truck?

    6. What are the governors set at?

    7. Can you get Canada runs under Long Haul or are these dedicated runs?

    8. Paper or electronic logs?

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

Pgt is only percentage pay. Your percent rate is based off of experience. You can have anything in the truck that runs off of 12v and you can have an inverter installed but it has to be a certain watt. I think 1500w. It has to be installed at a pgt shop. You are assigned your own truck. No slip seating. We have lots of Canada freight it is otr freight not dedicated. Trucks are set at 64 mph. We use paper logs. You are given a route as a company driver. Being an o/o I take my own and I don't have a qualcomm so I don't know how strict they are about the routing but I have friends that work for us as company drivers and they don't complain about it. It usually takes them the most direct route

You need your own cb radio and you can use your own coax cable and antennas if you want. You can also have sirius xm

I talked to a recruiter named Phil. Not sure of his location but he said he could only do every other weekend home. I asked about the job postings in our local area that stated: Home Every Weekend, He said: Quote: We save them for our best drivers!! Then why in the hell are they posted too the public Careerlink?? But he was quick to direct me to another area trk company he's had contact with. Maybe phil working both sides of the street?? Just pisses me off you answer a job posting thinking hey, finally going to better yourself, I follow there application instructions to a T and poof, ya got some a-hole on the other end of the phone that has to lie to your face..

I know a couple of guys that work for PGT from my area one of them said they are home every weekend since they started last november. They say every other to cover there butts just in case you know. He was on this dedicated account that got him home 2x during the week plus the weekends. I'm going there as soon as I'm done my refresher course.

    Thank You bigman77.
I'll keep the info for down the road.. I took another job offer.. But i'm going to pass the information onto a good friend he's looking to change companies he been running flatbed but they skimmin there pay checks. He gets paid % also and i did his books and found they were deducting there operating cost and then paying % there after..
I'm going to be running Local @ Home nightly. They offered me a real good across the board pay if i was willing to run tractor (assigned) and when needed run straight trk. I know the customers they haul for and the area's they deliver so kinda gives me a head start.

    Thanks Again....
