As for the Strykers lighting up the cab, the Stryker 447 is not near as bad about that as the 440 or the first 440's that came out.
With the 447 you have 7 different color light options to choose from so at night you can choose a color thats not as bright, plus there is a dimmer button on the 447 and 497 that will dim the lights down quiet a bit...So the bright lighted display is not a factor any more with the Strykers...If it was still a problem I wouldn't have one in my truck! -
That's why a straight 4 works well,they are well
under 100 amp draw -
so a straight 4 pill from dave made is what im looking at. is that ready to go in the truck or will i need to modify anything. i plan on getting one of the mobile 4 pills. that should be ready to go it right? just put power to it and hook up the coax right?
-
You will need to get some good coax. what comes in the truck from the factory will not handle the power. If it was me I would run 8Ga. wire right from the Battery's to the amp. With fuses on the Pos.and Neg. sides as close to the battery's as you can. You will need to make sure you have a good Antenna, and make darn sure your SWR's are below 1.5 before you ever key it up. -
What truck you doing the install in ?
On a straight 4 pill's I run no less then #4 wire and 80amp in-line fuse
(not those plastic pill stereo type, spade plug only)
Never ground an amp to the battery, keep the ground short as possible
and direct to the frame if you can.(A-pillar bolts are"frame")
Useing shielded wire on ground increases conductive RF,therefore a shorter run is best. -
So what is the most a person can Deadkey into a straight 4 pill (2879) amp and still have it live a reasonable amount of time?
-
I have one being hit with 40/125
and no problems the last 3yrs.
It's a comp style that's built to be volted
and run hard.
Keep in mind some amps do not like
high dead key,but will take all the swing
you can throw at them. -
I don't have any info on the 4600 turbo on how to turn it down and I don't have anyone within driving distance that can do it for me.
I quess I could buy an off the shelf radio to run an amp but then that takes money away from my amp fund. -
You can run that 4600 into a straight 4/2879
As it sets on high or low without wrenching away from stock
and still make steady power up to around 900+
The highest I've ever run into 4 pills was
400 in with nearly 1300 out, which remained crystal clean on
5 mile receive. Not advisable for those short on cash and or equipment
