I'm having a little debate with my buddy about what the best truck would be for off road use in the oil fields of ND.
What's your opinion on the best truck for oil field use?

It all depends what your going to do with it. Just general hauling like water or sand then a KW T800 is my favorite at least 475 HP 13 or 18 speed and just 40000 lbs rears at 3.90 ratio. Now if your going to use it as a winch tractor still a T800 but with 46k rears at 4.10 or lower and only an 18 spd. If its a bedtruck your wanting then the only way to go is a C500 with a 475 horse 18 and a 2 with either Sisu or Clark planets about 385" wheelbase and 3 winches on it. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't like to run much but KW's in the patch the rest just don't hold up to the abuse.

R model Mack, with Mack engine, trans, and rear end, with camel back suspension and a double frame is the toughest truck ever made. I pulled the strongest horizontal drill rig off road, super tankers 290k, all over the great USA,some jobs where quite a few miles off road. The SuperLiner with the same specs, but with the e-9 V-8, is the King of all trucks.

i would say the best trucks for off-road are the kw t-800 and mack ch613.

Both above trucks will work, full lockers would be nice.Myself i prefer a sleeper but many will disagree on a sleeper.
And my t-600 did fine hauling water sand and cement but most will disagree on that toooooo.SHC Thanks this. -
