Would that be the many "fine" truck routes in PA that are now 9 ft(or less) wide?

We took a "highway" in PA that turned out to be an old donkey path for barges. In Eastern PA, sometimes trucks shouldn't take "truck routes".

If the guy was in Eastern PA, it's all messed up.

BUT, the Amish have fancy, flashy LED lights!!!

Your truck is 8' wide....8.5 feet wide if you're pulling a 102" trailer. As long as you know how to drive, 9' lanes are plenty wide.

This was western pa. All the routes he could have took would have been fine for a 102. I ran eastern pa. Ran many of the back roads with no problems. Now, if you want to have fun, try the fine truck routes in wv, especially 33 and 50:biggrin_25523:

Who of us (who've been around) didn't drive on "NO trucks" roads? Even "by the book" guys with a couple of months under your belt and lots of "holier than thou" BS in your heads, mark my word, you'll drive those roads sooner or later, and since you are "by the book" pillars of driving community please remember to call local authorities and request assessment of the fine (if you'll sneak through undetected).

Driving on not designated roads is a risk of the trucking business (just like heads on collisions) and it should be treated as such, that means business insurance covering that unfortunate circumstance. Business expenses should not be passed on a driver or any employee (even independent ones), I think it's ridiculous what truckers put up with. Next time a human error would lead to a spill, explosion, disaster you will not see local authorities, DOT and EPA going after employees (and Gosh forbid shareholders & CEOs) to collect fines & fees, but truckers are 2nd sort citizens and frankly we would take just about any object up our arses.

try AR23 it's a designated truck route with multiple 5-10 mph S curves (you have to take both lanes to complete) those steep S curves may shift the most outstandingly secured loads, if you drive a flatbed. Whatever route that unlucky PA driver took to cut a corner, it must have been much safer and faster than AR23 since no sane driver would use AR23 deliberately to cut a corner. Of course, public safety officials know it the best.
