Hauled chips/dust down in the Sacramento area for awhile. Winter is/can be a real tester. The bins will freeze up and bridge up....makes it real fun trying to keep legal when the whole bin just suddenly drops before you can close the gates.

We would load out of so many little mills all over the valley...it was hard to keep track of which was where!

Good luck in your new gig

Thanks, yeah we do a bunch of mills all over the place and that is for sure the hardest part of the learning curve just remembering where they all are and the different procedures they all have.

Hey welcome aboard.....I've got 2 months in so far and I'm still pretty darn happy with this job and company.
I got paid holidays after just 30 days on the job,it was cool getting paid for Thanksgiving Day already and now Christmas and New Years coming up.
They even sent me a Fred Meyer store gift card with my last check stub in the mail, not sure how much it is worth yet but I was just pleasantly surprised to get anything being I'm so new at the company and all.
We also just got a pay raise, more on a percentage basis for those here longer being it's based on years of service but even us newbs got a bump in pay.
That's almost unheard of in this economy.
Hope it works out for you,the first couple of weeks are a little daunting but don't be afraid to call dispatch or ask another driver with any questions, everyone has been very helpful when I've needed it.
Even drivers with other companies have all been cool and helpful, chip haulers here in the PAC NW are a good lot from what I've seen so far.

Thanks. Three weeks with the company now, and I'm liking most things about the job. A spot of bother trying to get a nice even spread of chips out of an almost empty bunker, but thats about it. Everyone has been really helpful, even when I'm still taking it extra slow backing onto the tipper (5 years of a short wheelbased tractor and trailer with sliders all the way forward).

Looks like I just missed the gift cards with the paychecks. Ah well, this is still a nice step up for me:)
