One last bit of advise on bad weather. As someone meantioned earlier, turn on your lights... don't just use the daytime running lights, actually turn them on! Using daytime runners only turns the headlights (on most cars). Turning the lights on fully activates the tail lights as well and helps us see your rear end and keep a safe distance. Road spray from tires can make your car just about impossible to see.

Have a safe and happy trip.:biggrin_25525:

go to the truckstop near you pilot, ta, flying j, petro and look in the supplies/equip area and find a little book that shows most of the truckstops along the way you might be driving.

Mr Fisher Guy,,, With all due respect sir,,, I usually travel in the extreme rt lane going the speed limit or a hair under, when I see a big rig coming up from behind , I signal and shift over to the center lane to allow him to pass on the right, that way, he dosen't have to change lanes or speeds or gears or anything , just barrel on by, I thought I was doing him a favor, if you guys don't like that, I'll quit doing it, but I thought I was being courteous by getting out of his way, as a bonus, if he is just crawling by slowly, my gf will usually give him a smile..

In Kansas, and probably several other states, you must stay to the right, except to pass. So you moving to the left lane would be illegal, and could get you cited. I think most drivers, would rather you stay in your lane, as you changing lanes without the intention on passing another vehicle would tend cause confusion as what the heck you're doing.

Another law, is that you must move over and/or slow down for stopped law enforcement or highway workers. I've noticed that since this law went into effect a few years ago, that a lot of drivers extend that to other CMV and just any vehicle that is stopped on the shoulder. I know I do, as it is common courtesy, and safety.

This happens alot because alot of trailers have re
threads. Thread that has been added. Just be courtesous. Get a cb and you can tay informed. The road is our office. Give us room when passing infront and dont take up a truck space. To find a truck stop look for green and red signs. All the major truckstops have high signs that can be seen for 2 mles and the deisel prices are in red and green. Thats a red flag.

Add to this: CHECK those lights once in a while to make sure they actually light up. I can't beleive how many late model cars I see every day with burned out lights.
