Contacted Swift but I get mixed reviews on here. Just looking to make money the first year OTR and get experience. I hope they can get me 2500 + miles OTR
Is Swift okay for a new driver with company training?

Swift is a good choice,
especially where you reside....... -
Its a start, give them at lease a year and then move on to a better company.
-
Swift is great if you like to starve... there are much better out there.

I'm not in the industry but I'm researching the pros and cons. I see most people say after a year you can move, but looking at a lot of sites for trucking companies most say they want 6 months of OTR experience some even say 3 months so depending on the training time you could be out of the door in 9 months or so if you don't go through co. sponsored training.

Sharp Dressed, the Swift terminal manager here, Albuquerque, came in to school and spoke with us for a couple of hours...no recruiting, just truck world reality. Safety and responsibility. He told us that companies don't want tumbling tumbleweeds, they're looking for professionals. So yeah, lots of ads for 6 months, but page 2, the rest of the story is, a year is a good minimum for the first job. I believed him, he's a strong guy, straight talker, 13 years OTR.

Interesting. Yeah I would definitely take the experience of a vet over someone like me. Good info.

The best trucking companies to drive for are the ones you never heard of before, they are the ones who don't advertise in truck papers or have flyer's in truck stops.Look into Watkins & Shepard they take newbies and I heard they are pretty good.Matter of fact there a big thread here from a member here who has a good tread about them.

The only thing that concerned me about Watkins was people saying they don't have much of a training program.
