Can anyone give me feedback on Central Refrigerated Service? Had a phone interview with them today, like some things they had to say, just curious.

Kinda need specific questions to help.....
.
-
2. How many miles does a solo and team get per week?
3. Insurance benefits what kind do they offer?
4. Do they operate different then Swift with them being owned by the same person?
5. If you went to their CDLwhat is your opinion of the school and the trainers? -
2: 2000ish~2500ish
3: STAY AWAY. Overpriced and not good, plus you can not drop it if you don't want it!
4: Limited top speeds, getting to be a good turnover rate, they will push you illegal if you allow them to.
5: School in California was set up by the people who left CR England's school after setting them up. Dirt lot in Fontana, smaller class size then CR England's CDL mill.
I am a current driver for Central who was hurt on the job and have treated like crap ever since I got hurt. They have lied to me, abused me over the phone, and just treated me like crap. Call your local College and see if they have a CDL class there. You'll learn more. -
I'm not sold on them, but if they can get my 22 year old son in with some of the problems he has then I may go with them for the first year. See I want to team with my son but he has a felony arrest carrying a concealed weapon (3 inch blade pocket knife) 6 years ago, not a conviction but an arrest and the charge was put into a diversion program until he was 18, all he had to do was not get into any trouble and it would disappear, he never did. We figured it disappeared or at least that's what we were told but that didn't happen as we now know. Central said today that they could probaly work around it, not to many other companies willing to. Real pain in the butt because he's never been in any other trouble, dosen't drink or do any drugs his entire life. -
Have fun.

I start school with them on the 10th, in SLC.
Everything I have read, and all the things I have been told, seem to be about 60/40 good vs. bad. I'll give them a shot as well. If I wait around till I find the perfect company to work for, where I'll never be unhappy, I'll just grow old and hungry. Plus the wife turns a good dime at her job. So if I can't get a decent check 1 week it won't throw us in the dumper. But I won't go lease till I am sure we have a solid foundation to work from. If I have a crappy month, I don't want to miss a payment because I needed to put food on the table.
Just another question. How much lumping do you have to do on your own? -

I have been with them for a few months now. I have been getting around 2500 to 3000 miles a week. Last week was really bad, around 2000. I ended up at several locations that were just plain slow.
My dispatcher has been trying hard to get me drops or swap outs when I get a bad load (600 miles 3 days) I have yet tobe stuck with one for more than a day and a half.
It is a training company. It is not a company to stick with for the long haul. If you need a licence and some experiance then they are better than many of the options. Work a year and be free and clear. You should be taking home 600 to 1000 a week.
Home time is hit or miss. They seem to try. Just sometimes things happen. You get 1 day for a week out. 4 days a month. If you need 5 or more days you will have to leave your truck at a yard, and there is the possibility of it being assigned to someone else. A good possibility these days. They dont have a huge number of extra company trucks. They have started assigning some of the higher milage W900s to company drivers, and will be doing it allot more in the comming months as owner ops swap to Pete's. -
Thanks for the info!
Waiting on a call back to confirm everything is still go, and should be headed out via Greyhound to the training center in SLC.
Couple more questions.
1. Aside from the $100 for the license fee is there any other hidden costs, aside from food, that I should be aware of?
2 In the room provided, will I have a roomie? Wife wants to know in case she wants to swing down lol.
3. Got a general idea of what to bring as far as clothes, blanket, sheet pillow, and toiletries, anything else I should get before I head down that they don't point out?
