Ok so any of ya know anything about this deal my buddy was telling me about the other day? He said he heard that the Obama Admin wants to jump start the small business sector again and is making it real easy to get start up loans?? I myself find it hard to believe but he was very sure that that was what he heard on the truckin' show he was listin' to and he's usually not one to exagerate. I think I spelled that wrong but toughNow lets keep this as positive as possible and try and contribute real facts if possible and not make this a debbie downer hate fest.

I have heard this rumor as well and have found no evidence to support it. It sounds like one of those too good to be true stories. I have gotten a couple e-mails from finance companies that I had financing through a year ago stating something to this effect as well but again it looked like a marketing gimmick to me.

Here in North Carolina, the state has such opertunites for new ventures and start ups. Not just trucking but for all types of buisness. Loan amounts of 25K to 5M.
But you must quilify, it is not free money. Loans are approved from banks and backed by the state. There is a small fee. We got a very good rate on our truck.
We presented a simple operating model and talked directly with a loan officer from a local bank. Pretty good deal and interest rate is about half of what the dealership quoted. -
There is the TERP program .....it's targeted at drivers that service the ports and will remove an old truck and pay about 70% of a new one.
The program has restrictions on age of old one, age of new / late model one and mileage restrictions on the operating area of the new one. The idea is to reduce the emissions in the cities. It is not targeted at road units although my former carrier got some kind of financial support for LNG road units....and bought a bunch of used Ryder stuff for the next round of funding.
Wal mart has some green units running around supported with Fed dollars too so it's possible to get funding. -
You'll realy only qualify for the TERP program if you run local or run the majority of your miles in the counties around Houston, Dallas, Austin, or San Antonio. At least that is what a rep from Rush in Sealy told me. I think you have to have owned the older truck for at least a year and when you apply you have to show do a mileage statement and then keep records after. It is a sweet deal if you can get it. I know of one company that got 4 or 5 brand new Pete daycabs for about $30,000 each on this deal.SHC Thanks this.

All I know is that every time there seems to be a govt loan program that would benifit trucking, residents of Indiana are not eligible.....I have no idea why, but that is the way it is every time I try.

So what you are basically saying OS that the govt is helping out the local drivers around the above mentioned cities?? Go figure, the US GOVT is helping out the oil companies once again and those of us that need it are just left out.
And no, that was not a political rant to the admins, just staring that most all the local companies around the suggested areas have something to do with oil pipe lines. -
Sort of: 80% of your miles on the new truck must be in the attainment area for the length of the contract. (5 years ) and correct, you must submit fuel and mileage reports. Yes, an older truck or re power the truck and it's 2 years in business or more.
Several of my buds scored new Pete sleepers for about 35k +/-.
There's supposed to be Mr.Terp in sales at Rush Peterbuilt in Houston. He knows all the ins /outs / paperwork and can get it done. -
My last post was deleted because it was said to be politics(?) OK, did I miss something in the title of this thread?
