UPS has shown a trend of lowering the part timers/inside workers wages to give more to the drivers.

I guess Freight doesn't take anyone previously hired from the Parcel side anymore and vice versa. Were you working Parcel and then hired on to Freight back before they made that policy or did they make an exception?

    Dunno.

Worked brown December 2009, then laid off.

Applied for freight March 2010 and finally hired in August.

Didn't treat it as any sort of transfer. Was two totally different jobs and applications, with no relation between the two.

Is that what you were asking?

I guess I'm just confused. I've heard that UPS has some kind of no-rehire policy where Freight supposedly won't hire anyone who had previously been employed with Parcel and vice versa. :biggrin_25520:

I could have been wrong when I told you that, but I have always heard that UPS doesnt rehire anybody, so I figured that policy came over to the Freight side.

Also, Dave works for another division of UPS Freight that is non union and they may have different rules.

Not that I am aware of. Only issue I had was getting my UPS employment verified, but that had everything to do with a certain individual and nothing to do with the company.

Now UPS brown is union, freight LTL is union, but truckload is not. That can make transfers and rehires tricky. Can't move into a union job without getting your union time in. For example, when I move next year I can't transfer my truckload job to the local LTL terminal without starting on the docks and working my way up, since I have zero union seniority.

Oh! Okay. That probably explains it then! Thanks for pointing that out. In the meantime, I'll probably just have to call UPS Freight LTL.:yes2557:
