Lots of guys feel they should show up for an interview dressed as they would to actually do the job. In most career fields, this is a mistake that will keep you from getting an offer. There are exceptions however and trucking seems to be one of those fields where you can get away with showing up dressed like a driver and still get a job.

But just because you can get away with it, doesn't mean you should and I never do. I consider a job interview to be a business meeting and regardless of the nature of the job I'm applying for, I show up in proper attire for a business meeting. Generally this means kaki pants and collared shirt, no jeans, no t-shirts, no sneakers. It shows that you possess a certain level of personal responsibility. And it can often set you apart and give you an advantage over other candidates. Who wouldn't want to do that?

I typically wear a stained white t-shirt, leather vest, brown leather belt with my name engraved on the back, well worn jeans, and my old trusty cowboy boots.

Sometimes I'll wear my suspenders and an old cowboy hat.

Sometimes I'll shower a few days before the interview. You know, just to freshen up and look neat.

I found you can't go wrong with a crisp clean shirt. Nicely pressed pants, and a large crab costume.

There are truckers that do go in "class" dress for their jobs.
you did the right thing in showing up dressed up. granted ull be wearing jeans and nice shirt for the job but showing them that you care how you dress goes a long way to keeping employment.
