As I am scoping out the market I'm seeing that truck prices are just plain crashing to and through the floor, but trailer prices are not, or at least, not as much. It feels a bit strange to me to be building a business plan that allocates more for the trailer(s) than the truck! Hope this type of discussion still belongs in this "profit at the end of the year" thread...

I'm still convinced owner ops have done poorly in math all of their 5 years of edumacation.
-
This owner-operator made it through differential equations without too many headaches, how about you? I hope your math is better than your syntax.

Rodknocker, I'm not saying you can't spend more on a truck if you want to, only that I believe you don't need to. The market is flooded with very good machines out there for 20k and under, sometimes WELL under.

Well, I guess it depends on what one thinks is "worthwhile"... for me, it's a truck with 3/4 of a million miles or so, with a recent in-frame, tranny, clutch, well maintained, etc. etc. Many like that for under 20k. Still a million miles left in that scenario...

I don't think that anyone thought you were advocating cheating on your taxes. But, you are correct in that you can have your required shareholders or board meetings anywhere the board decides, even if you are the only board member. In my state, you must have at least 2 people involved in a corporation. The corporation requires a president and secretary. They are not allowed to be the same person in my state. I have a friend who would have his shareholders meeting in some rather exotic locations. He loved to go to the Bahamas so he had the meeting there one year. As you stated, it is all perfectly legal. -

Just so everyone knows I have decided to make that "blog" of sorts. I have put it on Facebook because, well who doesn't have Facebook these days. Here is a link to the page http://www.facebook.com/groups/323928074303624/ and if you send me a message or make a post on there we can put you in the group to ensure you stay updated. I will try to make at least one post per day and move on from there.
