CHARGE MORE, but it will go back to court and these will lose, so no changes in the near future,

While the "intent" of the law might mean stop for 30 minutes after driving for 7hrs, dose not mean that is how the law will be interpreted. I am curious to know if you sit waiting for 7hrs for your load will you still need to sit for 30 minutes before leaving?
I would also like to know if these new rules will effect 10000lbs and under? I know this is off the topic for this thread but....

FMCSA will tell us on Thursday Dec. 22nd what the final rule is going to be. www.thetrucker.com has the story.

    ECU51 Thanks this.

Just remember they set a date for the rapture like 3 different times this year. Still hasn't happened yet.

Biggest change where I'm at is we won't be able to start on Mondays before 6 AM and get a 34 restart. (We usually run at least part of Saturday). The 30 minute break will be an annoyance, I'm sure most guys will just log one stop on line 1 or 2 instead of line 4. Only ran beyond 10 hours once in a great while so the cut from 11 to 10 really isn't going to move the needle. In general a little less money, a little more frustration and sitting around.

Must be a turd then, they're trying to bury it in the news cycle.

NONE of the rules affect 10,000 lbs. and under unless you carry hazmat requiring placarding .

FMCSA will tell us what they want the final rule to be . Then OOIDA , ATA , IBT , or Public Citizen will challenge what they are opposed to with a lawsuit and things will be on hold again .

The change from 11-10 hour driving periods will affect me in that rarely do I drive over 10 hours now because im paranoid I won't find a place to park. Now I won't want to drive over 9 hours for the same reason. This will effect load planners more than enything else as now they have new math to figure what loads we can deliver on time.

The 30 min break really annoys me. I like to get all my driving out of the way asap. All this break does is make me wait 30 mins more before I hit the sack since instead of a 10 hour trip now I have to make sure I find a place to park for 30 mins before 7 hours...you think the wait at the pumps is long now. Wait until the jokers decide thats a good place for their 30 min break.

The reset rule also annoys me as I am a night driver by choice. Much more peaceful and relaxing. Faster miles with no traffic to deal with. This whole circadian (sp?) rythem thing is crap. My pop worked 2nd/3rd shift all my life sleeping during the day with no problems. I have no problem sleeping during the day and driving at night. Now they are going to force drivers to start after two 12-6am periods which means drivers will be going out right at the beginning of morning rush hour. yay!

I have been practicing running without a reset. I have gone 2 weeks now driving 325-650 miles every day without running out of hours (one day I was down to 4 mins). Last week I clocked 3,645 miles this way (some miles were carryover so figure 3,000 miles for a 7 day period). My new driving goal is to never need a reset so this rule never affects me.
