This new CDC government report claims that of the women polled, 1 in 4 claimed to have been 'sexually mishandled' or 'physically abused', not by strangers...but by their husbands or boyfriends....
1 in 4!....
For some reason...I just kind of find this report, or it's results, as being a bit 'off', and or motivated by something else, and I also find the timeing of it's release to be suspect as well....
It's just hard for me to believe that 1 in 4 male truck drivers on here a guilty of doing what this survey suggests...
I think there was some political, and fund raising, motivation behind this survey, poll, and results...
The poll was done by calling randomn people over the phone...there was no verification of any of the statements...in other words no evidence...other than questions asked, and then answered by someone over the phone...
And how those questions were worded, have not been shared either...but obviously they were worded in such a way to maximize victimization responses...
I see it as an attention grabbing stunt that was done in light of all the focus being on Penn State and other high profile schools around the country, not involving females, but rather males...
All the attention has been on male victims of abuse lately...and as a result donations have probably dropped off significantly for woman advocacy centers or female abuse centers...
Being a 'victim' is big business in America...very competitive...
It's kind of like who can out victim who...
And over the last few weeks, or months, female victimization has kind of tooken a back seat to male victimization...
So, why not come out with a super outragious poll or survey that suggest 1/4 woman have been raped, and physically abused by their husbands and boyfriends...
Once again hurling women to the front of the 'victimization' line...
And once again putting males back in their roles as hairy, creepy insensitive, beasts...who behave like cavemen at home...
Even though I'm not married, and I'm single, I find the motivation, and sloppiness of the poll insulting to all the good men out there...and find it unfair for such a unscientific poll to cast such a dark shadow over all husbands and boyfriends...
I only bring this up cause they keep airing the results of this CDC survey on the radio...I've heard it like 20 times already on every radio station...they keep cramming it down our throats...
'All men are bad, all women are victims of these bad bad men'....
Shame on you men for all being such rotten brutes...shame shame shame...
And now that you know how bad men are, could you please start donating to our foundation again' (cash, visa, M/C or paypal)
Sorry, but this report just reeks of monetary motivation...
Disclaimer: Yes, I know there are truly female victims of abuse out there, as there are men, even on here, who have been abused as well...
But to play with numbers like that, and to nationally blare out such a unscientific poll, to me totally cheapens the true cause of stopping or ending neglect...
This survey is basically saying all husbands and boyfriends are guilty of physical or sexual assaults on their lovers...
No survey in the past has ever stated it being that high...not even in the 50's, 60's or 70's....
And now suddenly 1 in 4 husbands and boyfriends are capable of this?
And no evidence to proove it? and no one gets to see how questions were worded or asked?
The poll was done anonymously...we don't know where, in what community, nothing...was it taken amoungst Haitians, newly arriving immigrants
in the ghetto?...we just don't know, cause the CDC doesn't say...
It just seems like an attention grabbing scheme to me, which cheapens the cause for those women/men out there who truly have been victims of assault...
New CDC report says 1 and 4 husbands/boyfriends is abusive...
