We have quite a few loads that require v-boards and edge protectors from time to time. I was wondering if you all had any pictures of what these look like and could explain more about them so I have a better understanding of what I'm requiring drivers to do.

They are just either steel, plastic or wooden/paper edge protectors... here's links to what they look like and costs via Iowa80

The red and the blue ones are considered v boards as well. Nice, but spendy. A v board is usually two 1x4s or 2x4s hooked together parallel with 6 to 12" of strapping holding them together on each end. The strapping bends around the edge of the freight, while the boards provide constant pressure on the top and sides of the pallet, keeping part of the pallet from shifting where the mere 4" strap isn't touching.

Anyone have a picture of a load they've done requiring v-boards before it's been tarped? I'd like to see what it looks like.

Most likely it will be I-beam steel, stuff of that nature

I have some of the blue ones I used in hauling roofing shingles, brick, blocks, bagged stuff. Then I have the small orange ones I use for wallboard, lumber, etc.......
SHC and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
What type of material is requiring the v boards?
Those red/blue plastic ones are good for brick or shingles. I used to haul rolled and palleted tar paper for shingles and you could only use the 1x4 or 2x4 method for those because they would double stack those.....UGH..... The 2x4 method is also really good for loosly stacked cinder blocks, or open loaded 55 gallon drums, rare loads, but nice to have the boards when you need'em. -
Never heard of steel loads needing v-boards. Usually shingles, bricks, other palletized products.
